Another one brought to my attention recently was GitPitch: https://gitpitch.com/

I'm not crazy about it being a paid service, but it does have a nice feature set.

The real dream, of course, would be for GitHub to have good diff support for PowerPoint (and Word, to a lesser extent). Given that they're an MS property now, it would seem like a natural integration. Although I'm sure some folks would be terrified of such hooks, it would be a huge gain in audience.

While not using markdown, it does help automate the captioning process when giving a live presentation. Figured I would toss this out with the other tips.

This is a really cool project.  I had not seen it yet.  Eventually I would love to see a round trip, but this is a good start.

Just as an FYI to everyone here, I’m working on a google sheets to GitHub.io spreadsheet -> schedule website converter automatically via CI as my first step in this direction. If you are interested in this, please let me know.

I’d originally meant to reply when the topic of Markdown slides came up, as I’ve used these for many years. But as it happens at the moment, I’m working on a little bit of a shift.

Previously, I’d been using Remark.js for a lot of this style of Markdown slide. E.g.

Remark has the advantage that I could do a little client-side hack to get it to produce a notes page from the same Markdown

However, I’ve also been doing some Hour-of-Code style outreach that runs in a slides-like environment:

I’ll try to post an update early in the new year on where I’m up to with the tech I mentioned from my CSSPLICE talk. I have a bad habit of trying to progress all the parts of it at the same time, rather than getting one done and then moving on to the next part, which is why I’ve been a little quiet about posting any updates.

 

Underlying it, there’s a Scala.js UI kit that I’ve been building to make these easier. Documentation to come, but
