Dear loyal supporters,

After a miserable beginning, you know that summer can only get better.  And with the events we have planned for you, it certainly will!

Joint Masters' Report

2005 proved a cracking start for the Connaught Square Squirrel Hunt.  From our Inaugural Meet, with some 100 followers, to the triumph of the Ball, we showed just how much fun can be had by ridiculing the Hunting Act.  New friends were made, relationships started and a network of hundreds of like-minded libertarians established, all thanks to a Jack Russell and a sock.  More than that, we raised thousands of pounds for hunting causes and bought some very nice coats (NB not on expenses!).

We only hope that you enjoyed the comic side of the pro-hunting movement as much as we did and will continue to support us in the coming season. To-whit...

The 2006 Meet Card

4 June 2006         The Opening Summer Meet.  4 pm at the Duke of Kendal, Connaught Street, W2.  We shall have a glorious afternoons hunting in the now traditional way in Hyde Park, moving off at about 4.30 pm.  Dylan/Dillon will stretch his little legs chasing a drag-squirrel followed by the Joint Masters and the field.  Visiting packs welcome (one at a time).  Fun and excercise for all the family, followed by the pub as usual.

2 July 2006          Pre-Macmillan Dog Day Hunt.   Our second meet will also be at the Duke of Kendal and follow the same pattern.  The only difference is that we shall select from the visiting packs a few outstanding examples of Squirrel-Hound to display at the upcoming Macmillan Dog Day.

4 July 2006          Macmillan Dog Day.  Every year the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, hosts the Canine Social Event of the Year on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Relief.  Previous attendees have included Lady Victoria Hervey and Nicole Appleton no less.  We are presently in negotiations to include a class of Squirrel-Hounds, sponsored by the Hunt, for judging by Joint Master, Ed Seyfried.  Please do come to support this very worthy charity and -lets face it - have a good time.  Further details from us in due course.  Otherwise contact Macmillan: http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Get_Involved/Raise_money/Events_and_challenges/Events/London/Dog_Day.aspx .

17 September 2006  Pre-Ball Mounted Meet.  Our most ambitious project yet is to hold a mounted meet in Hyde Park.  We hope to move down Rotten Row following real hounds, sufficiently controlled not to chase real squirrels.  The Meet will follow the annual Horseman's Sunday service at St. John's Church, Hyde Park, at which the vicar leads a mounted procession to celebrate riding in London: http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Get_Involved/Raise_money/Events_and_challenges/Events/London/Dog_Day.aspx.  As local residents, the Joint Masters plan to attend and are in negotiations regarding teh inclusion of other mounted supporters.  Further details in due course.

6 October 2006      The Second Connaught Square Squirrel Hunt Ball.  Following the triumphant ball last September, our second ball will be held again at Banqueting House, Whitehall, this time on a Friday.  It will include even more spectacular and sophisticated entertainments and last until 3 am, truly marking the beginning of London's Autumn social season.  Several very high profile guests have already accepted.  Dinner tickets at £140, to include free cocktails and wine; after dinner tickets at £65.  Please book early to avoid disappointment and ease our cash flow; the application form is attached.  All enquiries to csshu...@gmail.com.

7 October 2006      End of Season Hunt    For those who have come up from the country for the ball, who want to remeet friends made last night and those who just cannot get enough, our post-ball hunt will take place as usual at 4 pm at the Duke of Kendal.  By this time, we hope to invite our new resident in Connaught Square, the ex-Prime Minister, to join the festivities.

Please, please support us in every way that you can.  Ridiculing the ban in the way we do has a point: it maintains profile, builds support and gives great enjoyment to the participants, especially Dylan/Dillon.

We would be particularly grateful for offers of sponsorship for the Ball and offers of raffle or auction prizes.  The more we collect, the more goes to support attempts to overturn the ban.

See you on 4 June if not before!

Yours,

Ed Seyfried
Duncan Macpherson
