Dear Loyal Supporters,
You may have read the excellent article in the Times today regarding the Mounted Meet.
Unfortunately, so have many others. In particular, antis. We have been contacted by various agencies who have warned us that anti-hunt protesters have made it known that they intend to picket our event.
On their advice, we have taken the decision to cancel the Mounted Meet for reasons of safety. As you know, this has been our highest priority in organising the Mounted Meet and we are advised that it is now impossible to guarantee the safety of participants or the general public.
It is not all bad news, however. The Times article has raised awareness of the pro-hunting cause subtantially. We have taken calls not only from almost every national newspaper but also French and Spanish television. To some extent, our point is now made.
Everyone is now invited to join the CSSH in meeting in our usual fashion at the Duke of Kendal Pub on Connaught Street at 1 pm on Sunday before drag-hunting a sock through Hyde Park. You will have seen how we do it on the web-site:
www.csshhq.org.uk. It is remarkably good fun. We expect that most of those planning to attend the mounted meet will come to our foot meet. This should include many members of the press.
We are sorry to disappoint you all. It is an unfortunate aspect of modern society that when lawful activities are threatened by illegal violence, the powers that be prevent the lawful activity and not the illegal violence. You will understand that we are the most disappointed of all.
I do hope you can join us on Sunday for our traditional foot meet.
Also,
don't forget the Second Annual Hunt Ball to be held in Banqueting House on 6 October 2006. Last year was a corker; this one promises to be even more fun! Details on the website:
http://www.csshhq.org.uk/2nd_ball.html. All proceeds to good causes.
Please contact me on 07798 818432 for any further information; press please contact Sara on 020 7243 9992.
Yours ever,
