The surgery was postponed. The MDs say he is not ready for it. I am deeply
concerned and praying for him. Ed

Spoke with Diane today. They are saying John has pneumonia and bowel
obstructions. He has difficulty in breathing and they put him on a
ventilator. His spirits are down. He is not in a condition to receive
visitors, but I am sure cards would lift his spirit.

Ed:  Thanks for keeping us informed, and for everything else you're doing (which I know is huge/difficult.)  Sending strength to YOU - take care of yourself - and I'm adding to your prayers for John.   I'm with you now both in spirit.

All my best,
Dawn

Ed, I'm going to be in Charlotte on Thursday. Are they allowing
visitors?

No visitors are preferred. I suppose you could show up and ask. He is in
intensive care on a ventilator and communicates only by writing. They are
keeping him asleep much of the time at his request.

Most ICU's prefer family only and/or a few, close family friends due to limited visiting times and limited people allowed in the room. Some hospitals are becoming more liberal with visitation in ICU, but overall it is still the standard. For the people who are going anyway, I suggest finding out the visiting hours for ICU before you go and be prepared to wait to see him depending on who is there and if he is well enough to see people.
From you fellow skydiver who has been cussed out 3 times this week- for doing my job as a nurse.

I just spoke with Diane. John was taken off of the ventilator. He was talking and asked for a shave. They are planning once again to set his pelvis. She is still requesting no visitors and so is John.  In response to the question, "What can we do?" she has not given a response other than go somewhere and give blood. There is a shortage. It does not have to be for John, he is getting what he needs.

John has improved a great deal. His systems are functioning again and his
BP/heart rate are normal. The tube in his nose has been removed. He has been
moved to a surgical floor and is awaiting surgery on his pelvis in his room
(11602). He was his old self today.

He is receiving the cards/balloons, etc and appreciates his friends
thinking about him.

Saw him yesterday. Was awake and talking and has the magic button. :)

Just needs to stop beating himself up over what happened and let
himself heal.

Hi All -

Chester would like some additional info on Uncle Airtrash for their incident report. Jumps, wingsuit jumps, years in sport, container type, wingsuit type, etc. I've given then everything I have an didn't want to bother DIane to bother him for the rest so any help would be great!!

Thanks!
Whit

John called me today and he sounded strong. He was asking for the phone
number at Chester (didn't say why), so perhaps he got through and told
them. I hope so anyway.
