hi folks,

i sent shilpa an email inquiring about the youth jam. and she informed me that it wont be happening this year. i'm so bummed.  :(  she said people's schedules were really scattered and they couldnt coordinate. so that leaves some time open for you in your itinerary.

rainbow and i were talking briefly after the call last night about what it would be for you guys to go to basudha later in november for the basudha festival. that would really change things around a lot, but it might be worth it to go elsewhere first. maybe you could connect with some of the other contacts karly and rainbow made.

another thing to check out is the shikshantar website (which is the organization shilpa is affiliated with) there is a section on upcoming events, which she said they're going to update soon. http://www.swaraj.org/shikshantar

take care,
kasey

hey all-

check out bodh gaya vipassana center- they have a class starting on nov. 1. you could stop into varanassi for a couple days and then head to the class before basudha.
http://www.dhamma.org/en/schedules/schbodhi.shtml

and one in cacutta starting on 11.5:
http://www.dhamma.org/en/schedules/schganga.shtml

and one in gujarat (just north of mumbai) that starts on 10.31
http://www.dhamma.org/en/schedules/schdivakara.shtml

also, once we get a little further on your schedule, i would recommend getting trains asap- it's already october! here are a couple sites that are good to start familiarizing yourself with:
www.irctc.co.in/ --- start at this one, where you can create a log in and buy electronic tickets (which can also be cancelled ahead of time, etc)
http://www.indianrail.gov.in/index.html --- this is a little less user friendly but has useful info and maps, etc

Hi Rainbow,

Thanks for the information. Actually that is a good idea, we could
head over there first so then we can be in Basudha for the festival.
