The newly assigned Major stood at the back of the cell with his arms crossed, his black eyes, which had just the thinnest blue around the pupil, taking in the scene. The man who’d been on the Bridge, Kivicus, had been taken while the second officer had been left here. Meanwhile, no one had seen the helm chief since the attack and John figured he was being interrogated. He just shook his head and sighed then looked at the bulkheads. As the Head of the R&D office and the engineering chief on Eden, he’d been responsible for studying the specs of this ship when it put into port there.
Problem was, that was over two years prior and he’d been through allot since then. He’d gone back to get Force Recon certed and intel certed. It had been grueling for him, he’d had to do indoc three times then come very close to failing the psych eval. He’d turned things around though, deciding the officers in red weren’t all liars or the enemy. After that, he’d had to attend most of the old SSF courses but those had the Marine twist, concentrating less on running a ship and more on the ground training.
Escape and evasion had been there as well, both as a single Marine the small units and groups learning to be part of an MEU(SOC). All that is what had led him there, standing in a Brig twiddling his thumbs. There wasn’t a Force Recon post open for officers by the time he’d graduated, so after the intel training he’d been assigned to one of the Brazen class in Enterprises Battle Group. Just before they’d arrived back at Delphi the Admiral had called him and explained he needed a Chief of Staff to help keep things in order. The Battle Group itself was spec ops capable, with an MEU(SOC) and the First Force Unit and Teams.
Though Carter hadn’t attended First Force training, due to the restriction of having to become Navel again and not ready to leave the green behind, the Admiral still felt he’d fit the job. Carter had agreed and had been bringing his things over when the first Kazon attack hit. He’d grabbed a rifle and helped to defend the ship, having taken command of a security detail, but had ended up here after being stunned defending deck twenty two.
Stretching, he pushed off the bulkhead and looked out to see the Kazon talking at the back of the main room. Nodding he turned around and looked over the crew, “okay, who’s got a plan? And if no one does, who wants to hear mine?”
