A Mission Post by Captain Jonathon Kirk & Captain Korath & Acting Commander Melanie Dez
Mission: Incoming - A Starfleet Command Plot
Location: Bridge Ready Room
Timeline:
Jon lead the way out of sickbay. "General Archer has planned to go down to the planet. Alot of us are trying to persuade him not too. I would have to say that some of us weren't successful." He said as they entered the turbolift heading to the bridge. "But Commander Dez should be here, and she will be happy to meet you. but unsure if she has heard as many stories as I have. Although I do apologize for the young Roberts stunt awhile back. He had a bad role model." He said with a grin as it came to a stop at the bridge.
Korath Nodded. "One of the small joys in rank is ignoring the objections of those below you." he said in jest by way of reply to Captain Kirks comment about the General wanting to transport to the surface. I am told another Captain named kirk made that quite popular in the early days of StarFleet. As for the Stunt you refer to, Which stunt was that?" The Klingon asked.
"I believe getting shot by a phaser on a low setting or was it just pointed at you?" Jon asked as they crossed the bridge towards the bridge ready room. He pressed on the door chime. "I do hope she doesn't have anything planned. General Archer put me in charge of liasion with you after I stepped down from XO." He said as he waited to hear something from the other side.
Korath Chuckled, or what passed for a chuckle among Klingons. "Well lets just say that his Commanding Officer wasn't listening that well. I could have charged him, but then I would likely have been given some green politically correct officer that does everything by the book. I prefer my officers with a desire to speak their minds." Korath said with a grin. He stopped next to Capt Kirk as he rang the chime. "Mr. Roberts and I have come to our Understanding now."
Melanie Dez was feeling a little at a deficit of late. The number of things that she had to keep track of only seemed to grow rather than get resolved. She looked over her list of senior officers to figure out the best way to delegate a few of the issues that seemed to be piling up of late. That is when the door chimed. She took a quick sip of coffee, and said, "Come."
Korath Nodded. "After you Captain." He said taking a respectful place behind Jonathan as they entered the ready room.
Jon nodded his head and slowly walked into the office. "Commander Dez" He said. He stayed off to one side as he let the Commander and the Captain talk.
"Jonathan," Melanie greeted the former XO, "and you must be Captain Korath, that I have heard so much about." she greeted the Klingon as she stood and offered a handshake.
"That I am." Korath said as he extended a hand toward the acting captain. "Nothing bad I hope."
Melanie smiled, "Commander Dez, nice to meet you. And no, nothing bad at all. Please have a seat. We have much to discuss." She gestured to the 2 chairs in front of her desk as she sat behind her desk.
Jon grabbed a seat. "Will General Archer be joining us or has he already head to the surface?" He asked as he looked around to see what she had changed to the room.
"The General is already planetside. We are here to discuss collaboration between our 2 crews in the search for the ISS Ships and personnel that have wreaked havoc in this sector." Melanie explained. "There is an additional twist as well." she paused, "There may also be Romulan's from the Mirror universe that are also involved."
Korath nodded. "We may have one or more operatives aboard archer. Our security teams are looking for them now, and i have locked down any outgoing traffic without a thorough search."
This news was slightly disconcerting to Commander Dez, "We are instituting a few additional security measures aboard the Enterprise as well, for just such a contingency. As an 'olive branch', if you will, we are hosting a delegate from the Nali homeworld. Needless to say the delegate is under constant observation."
Korath listened intently. "What sort of measures are we talking about?" he asked.
"Internal sensor upgrades, tightened security protocols on terminal access, and data storage." Melanie replied. "I am sure the crew is displeased with some of the additional measures, but in this climate we can't be too careful."
"Agreed." Korath said. "Sound precautions."
Melanie nodded at Korath's understated approval. "Captain Kirk, has there been any progress to report on our search for these ISS ships in the sector?"
"Well Commander, that's not exactly my department. Operations would have a better idea. I only get updates from ships about their status on security. And other than Archer with their two crewman dead, I haven't heard anything about ISS agents being onboard on the rest of the task force." Jon said with an arched brow.
With the exception of the knife found on board the Enterprise, his report checked out despite the Captain's tone. "Thank you, Captain." is all she responded before turning back to their guest. "As you may be aware, Captain Kirk, will be the primary liaison between the Enterprise and the Archer. This is not to say that you cannot or should not contact me directly if necessary. I encourage open lines of communication throughout the Task Force and between vessels."
"I understand Commander, I will of course keep you informed. I would suggest that Archer should break away from Enterprise and investigate, I believe this sector would be a good place to start." He said with a finger pointing to a sector displayed on a PADD.
Commander Dez made a note on her PADD and forwarded the information on to Operations. "Thank you Captain, good hunting." She said to Korath. Turning to Kirk she said, "I've forwarded this information on to Enterprise Operations for tracking." She stood at this point signalling the end of the meeting. "Gentlemen, if that is all."
The Klingon nodded before he spun around."Commander, Captain. I also have a few preparations to make aboard Archer." he said before respectfully making his exit
