Sekkoth laughed at Tamaras hesitation. "It's OK, Ensign. It won't bite." Sekkoth set about setting out the bamboo mats in front of Tamara and himself. "OK. I will show you how to make the Sushi... but you roll you own." Sekkoth set about laying down the Wasabi sheet and waited for Tamara to follow ensuit then set about placing the rice and the other fillings.

She blushed a bit, the insides of her big round feline’s ears turning a nice shade of pink. "Mrow... I'm sure it won't, I'm the one who bites usually! But this small cup contains enough alcohol to make me sick for at least a week, if not more." She shook her head a bit, her ears flopping a bit. "My species can't drink alcohol. Something about our physiology, I could go into a long and boring detailed medical report explaining why, but it would be... err... long and boring?" She laughed. "To make things short, our bodies can't deal with alcohol; even syntehol can make me sick. But thanks for the drink anyway."

She followed his gestures as he prepared the sushi, trying to make everything exactly like he did. She managed to do something close to a sushi, and smiled proudly at her first sushi, before chuckling some as some rice and filling spilled out.

Sekkoth giggled and it brought back memories off how much trouble he had when he first started to make Sushi.  "I apologize for the Saki. So, Ensign. How do you find being the Operations Officer on Zetari? The sheer size alone must cause you headaches." Sekkoth then rolled his Sushi, removed the bamboo mat and took a bite.

"Well, actually, it isn't really harder than being on Ops on a starship. At least, if I compare what I was told at the Academy to my duties here. The main difference is that Operations and Engineering are the same department, instead of beign separated like on a starship. But then, we have a bigger team of engineers and operations officers here, compared to a ship, so, the size itself isn't really a problem. But we do face bigger problems, like the complete rebuilding of the Mjolnir..." she added, sighing cutely.

The Hirumarian took a bite of her sushi and emitted a low purr of pleasure. "Purrrr, the 'sushi' does taste very nice!"

"I thought you would like it. Between you and me, I cannot stand the raw food the Klingon’s eat. But I love Sushi. I mean I don't know why I love raw fish but not that foul Klingon food. No offense if you like it. I just find my tastes are a little more... refined."

"Well, Klingon food is... interesting, I would say," she replied while finishing her sushi and making a second one. "Not something I'd eat everyday though. My personal tastes are a bit different, more so because my sense of taste itself is different than yours or the taste of Klingon’s. I like raw fish, and I love raw meat, especially when it is juicy and tender to the fang." She slurped her lips without even realizing it.

"Interesting." Sekkoth got up and headed over to the cabinet near his bedside draw. He opened it and brought a bottle back. He sat down again and looked at Tamara. "You know... mothers are a funny thing. Last time I went home haha gave me a bottle off non-alcoholic Saki. I was unsure as to why since I had no idea they even made it. All she said was, 'For the future.' Since that was in the past and we are now in the present I say the future has arrived." Sekkoth popped the cork. "Would you like some off my non-alcoholic Saki?" Sadar asked in a whimsical manner with a smile on his face.

"If there’s no alcohol there, then with pleasure. But I wouldn't have you open such a special bottle only for me, especially if your mother gave it to you for a special future occasion..." she mewled a bit.

"This is a special occasion and secretly between you and I think this is what she intended it for." he added with a small wink.

Tamara chuckled some and nodded, drinking the egg-sized cup of non-alcoholic Saki, seeming to appreciate the taste. Her whiskers twitched slightly. "It has a nice taste..." she commented.”So, tell me more about you, my worthy opponent! Where do you come from, why StarFleet, and so on. The usual stuff!"

Sekkoth looked a little uncomfortable. He took another swig of Saki and looked lost for a moment. He looked into Tamara’s eyes and she could see his pain from a lifetime ago. He could off told her about how he was abandoned on Qo'nos as a child and lived as a feral in the lower parts off the city. He moved his shoulder which seemed to be giving him trouble know that he was thinking off that time and how brutal it was for him. He decided to go with a watered down version.

"After my mother died at Wolf 359 I hitch hiked around on federation vessels until, as a young Klingon boy, I annoyed a Captain and he left me in New Zealand on earth. It wasn’t long until I got into trouble with the local authorities. Instead of throwing me in juvenile detention I was sent to live with the last off the traditional Maori tribes."

Sekkoth sat back and crossed his arms and a smile came to his face as if he was remembering a fond memory. "I learnt allot back then... allot. But I still didn’t fit in. I travelled around Earth for awhile until I hit Japan. I spent more time there than I planned and found Sensei and haha."

Sekkoth got up and went over to his bed side table a retrieved a photo frame and brought it back. He handed the photo to Tamara. "They took me in as their own," Sekkoth subconsciously started to rub his cheek, "although I was a slow learner." he said with a smile. "I never knew my Klingon father and now almost as little about my Vulcan mother... but Sensei and haha are my parents."

Sekkoth took another swig of his drink. But this time it was not Saki it was from the water on the table and Tamara could off thought for a moment that there was a tear in Sekkoth's eye. But then she remembered that Klingon's don't have tear ducts.

She listened silently, mewing out sympathetically as he told her his story. "Seems to me that, despite a rough start, you did pretty well in your life, Lieutenant-Commander!" she said, trying to lighten up the mood some.

Sekkoth smiled back at Tamara. "Aye. That I did. And what about you Ensign? Same question but reversed."

"I have much less than you to tell," she said, smiling softly and mewing a bit. "I was born on Hirumaria, soon after my world became member of the Federation. A family of six siblings, me included. We grew up together, and we all got our parent's liking for the stars and space. But we choose different paths. I'm the only one who choose StarFleet, because of my quite enormous natural curiosity, and the exploration policy of the fleet at the time I enlisted. My whole family still lives in the nebula my homeworld is located in."

She paused to take a sip of water. "I could have chosen a starship, which sounds like the logical choice for an explorer like me, but I choose Zetari instead, because, as odd as it may seems, this station is the perfect place for exploration. Because, the unknown literally comes to us, and this tigress often ends up making friends with it, like a certain vulcan-klingon lieutenant-commander!" she added with a wink and a soft giggle.

"Aye. That you have." Sekkoth joined Tamara in her giggle. "It was nice to meet a fellow warrior of the same heart as mine. It is rare to find another soul who enjoys the art of combat and not the combat itself. You are a rare jewel and I am all the better for meeting you and for that I thank you." Sekkoth bowed his head slightly. Tamara guessed that it was probably really hard for Sekkoth to say those words but she could tell he was very sincere.

Tamara blushed some, the creamy white inside of her ears turning a soft shade of pink, so did her cheeks, but the rusty-brown fur covering them should hide most of her blushing. She bowed her head back a bit, in the same fashion he did, while her tail swished happily. Then the feline poured him a cup of Saki, then poured herself a cup of the non-alcoholic Saki, and raised her cup. "To our new friendship!" She said before downing the egg-sized cup in one gulp.

"So, I heard you're due to depart soon. The unexpected arrival of the Enterprise battlegroup was quite a surprise. Any idea where you'll be going?"

Unsure how to answer Sekkoth decided on a diplomatic reply. "No. There will be a briefing I suppose. But as you would be aware everything is all hush, hush." Sekkoth's eyebrow raised a little. "Why do you ask?"

"Just curious," she replied, shrugging. "I know the war is demanding on every one of us, and even more so on the flagship battlegroup. We may not see each other for a while, my friend, if you're assigned to the other end of the galaxy..."

"Then I suggest we just enjoy the time we do have together. Only the brass know our fate from here on out." Sekkoth smiled at Tamara and she could tell that he was worried about something but at the same time she could tell that at this point in time the beautiful lady was all that was on his mind.

She nodded and smiled, the corner of her lips curving in a way that would pass for a smile. The feline wasn't going to press anything, despite sensing that he was worried about something, and she blushed a bit when she realized he did had some sort of a fondness for her, and that she was actually all he had on his mind. She went back on eating, rolling another sushi. " 'Let us enjoy the present, tomorrow is so far away it's like an entirely different life,' " she said softly. "It's a line from a very famous poem back home. I tried to translate it as best as I could, but does really sounds way better in Hirumarian."

"I could not agree more. We will deal with tomorrow... tomorrow." Sekkoth raised his cup in a toast.
