Conference
The Sport for Development and Peace International Working Group (SDP IWG) Secretariat, hosted by the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP), has nominated Magic Bus (as the regional frontrunner) to host the Next Step 2014 Conference.

Next Step Conference is an international event that bi-annually brings together a range of stakeholders who can promote the global Sport for Development agenda. Previous Next Step Conferences have been held in Holland, Zambia, Namibia, Trinidad & Tobago and have led to a growth of the sector in the region they have been held in. This one, the fifth in the series, will be situated strategically in India to promote this concept in the Asia region boosting awareness, engagement, support and advocacy. It is an opportunity for India to take a leading role across Asia in the sports for development space.

The conference will take place from 10-14 February 2014 in New Delhi, India.

We anticipate a tremendous turn out for the Conference with up to 100 organizations and 400 participants from over 30 countries. All members of the Sport for Development and Peace International Working Group (SDP IWG) Secretariat will be attending including the likes of Wilfred Lemke Special Adviser to UN SG, Sport for Development and Peace. Moreover, we are in advanced talks with top officials from UNICEF, USAID, WHO, Indian Government, IOC, FIFA, ASOP, Special Olympics, Adidas, NIKE, ICICI, Accenture and many other corporates and expect some star power to be represented as well! Vijay Amritraj has already committed and I can share the list of 85 speakers with you.

The central plenaries across three days are supported by break away sessions, skill building workshops and entertainment. Main plenaries include: Youth Development; Tackling the Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) burden using Sports and Activities, Enabling learning environments: The relevance of Safeguarding and Child Protection; Grassroots Sports and Development; Corporate Responsibility and Sports; S4D for Peace and Inclusion.
