My sustainability journey
Since I’m a kid, I’ve always been fascinated by the many aspects of our world and curious about foreign cultures. LATER, I developed a small NGO as a student project with a few friends and in partnership with an association of Malian migrants based in France. We raised funds and goods for the school of their village in the region of Kayes and went there a few times to assist them registering the school officially and start literacy classes for women and vocational trainings for teenagers. This first international development experience convinced me that this was the career I wanted to embrace. I then finalized my marketing studies and completed them with a master in political sciences.
During the masters, I worked at a consultancy in Brussels, managing EuropeAid funded projects dealing with institutional strengthening in the Balkan States. After this 18-month experience, I went back to Paris to work for CIEP, a public agency implementing international development projects in the field of education. I worked for 2.5 years on education reform projects in various countries in Africa, Eastern Europe and the MENA region. In 2011, I joined Devex and moved south to Barcelona. My role there is to assist organisations working on CSR and international development projects to be more effective. I assist them on business intelligence, communications as well as recruitment.
My current projects
As a Manager for Membership & Alliances, I supervise Devex membership in Europe. Devex member organisations are focusing on international development work and are using our services for business development, communications and recruitment purposes mainly. I work together with them to accurately assess their needs and offer them tailored solutions to help them gaining in efficiency on the business development side. I’m also in charge of partnerships in Europe. As Devex is the most popular media in the international development industry, with over 2 million page views each month, we develop numerous partnerships with organisations wanting to communicate about their positive impact in developing and emerging countries. I’m also in charge of developing and managing numerous media partnerships with events related to CSR, PPPs, development policies or humanitarian issues. Last year, Devex, in partnership with USAID, launched Devex Impact, focusing on the impact of the private sector on international development. Through this initiative, we’re building a global platform to connect professionals working on CSR issues and Public Private Partnerships notably and developing a resource center.
Synergies
I’m looking for more organisations to be involved in Devex Impact, as content contributors or as member of our Strategic Advisory Council. Also, I may be interested in developing media partnerships around the international events. I can also assist you in spreading your word out to the international development community if you want to communicate about a report, a workshop, an event or any project you’re working on. Finally, Devex conducts market research to assist organisations defining their CSR strategies in developing and emerging countries.
