Intervention by LSM in Gujarat assembly elections

 

Appeal for Support and Contribution

 

Friends,

 

Lok Sangharsh Morcha (LSM) has decided to contest coming Assembly election in Gujarat. The reasons are simple:

 

LSM is rigorously working for the rights of tribal in south Gujarat since 5 Years, on the issue of Land rights (along with forest land), Justiciable rehabilitation for displaced, Rights over Natural resources and other agrarian issues, Education & Employment, Opposing Eviction, SEZ and state repression.

LSM is also fighting for restoring democracy and secular values in Gujarat.

 

LSM has developed excellent leaders; people believe that only they should represent them;

The mainstream political parties have failed to address tribal and peasants’ issues; 

The existing and emerging problems require new leaders and strong opposition in assembly representing powerful mass movements;

 

The LSM has created a powerful network of workers who will canvass in these constituencies…

 

Financial requirements to clothe, feed and accommodate has been arranged by the people themselves.

 

We are short of funds to meet the following costs:

 

Per constituency

Vehicle rental (5 nos x 30 days x Rs 1500 per day)           2,25,000

Posters (1 lakh x @ Rs 1.50 per poster)                           1,50,000

Leaflets (5 lakh x @ 400 Rs per thousand )                       2, 00000

Public meetings (5 big meetings per constituency

x Rs 40000 each)                                                            2,00,000               

Miscellaneous expenses                                                   1,00,000

Total per constituency cost                                              8,75,000

 

The people are contributing an estimated Rs 10-15 lakh per constituency to meet out the expenses for local offices, local meetings, travel, food and other miscellaneous expenditures for workers,

 

We request you to contribute to the success of Lok Sangharsha Morcha by generously donating funds for the cause of tribals, small farmers, peasants and landless workers.

 

Each rupee you contribute will be matched by two rupees by the people of the constituency.
