Our Fred Alexander died at 1:05 this morning, just shy of his 84th birthday.  He had been in a bad way for a while. He founded the Colorado Senior Old Boys. In 2022 Fred was honored with the US Rugby Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, for his years of organizing the Golden Oldies Rugby tournaments and festivities around the world. We will honor his memory at the Elizabeth Celtic Festival this Sunday.
Services information will be forwarded as it becomes available.
Sadly,
Bill Gregg

Aww that is so sad. Thanks for sharing, Bill. Fred was so passionate and committed to rugby and I'm sure he will be sorely missed by the whole rugby community.

He's with Ernie now and I'm sure they have already started planning a tour for the rugby angels 😇

Steve

Absolutely heartbreaking. Fred was a fine man who will be dearly missed. The enormous love in his heart improved rugby, and all of our lives. We've lost not just our founder, but our rugby father. My prayers are for his family and for the greater rugby community. He goes to join his beloved Ernie.

We will remember him and celebrate his life on Sunday.

Sadly,
Skipp

Very sad.

Fred was not only the founder of CSOB he was the club's best recruiter.  He started working on me years ago, inviting me to the 1997 Golden oldies in Vancouver.  He welcomed all comers with open arms and swag.  Fred embodied the spirit of rugby with his sense of fair play, his organization skills and his smile.

It was such an honor and pleasure to know Fred and Ernie.  Our first encounter was when Fred invited us to join the Ol" Pokes tour to Toulouse.  Other trips followed to Australia and New Zealand.
Our sympathies to his family and all his friends.

Greetings all

Fred and Ernie welcomed me and Linda when we joined the Ol' Pokes in 2006 in Wellington.  He shared his love of rugby freely and widely.

Linda and I send our sympathy to all whose lives were enriched by Fred.

With love,

Fred embodied all that is good about our sport.

And sometimes,

For a brief moment,

He brought the rest of us to his higher plane,

By believing in us

More than we believed in ourselves.

Thank you, Fred.

You brought out the rugger

And the man

That I wanted to be

By believing in me.

Very sorry to hear about Fred's passing.   He was a great rugby steward and promoter for the CSOB's and rugby in general.

Liked the way if the CSOB's were playing the Quins for example...   Fred expected you to play for your team and wouldn't be disappointed.

Cheers Fred.... RIP     Scotty

First got to know Fred when we he played with the Highlanders on our two week tour of England in about 1974.  Roomed together on the trip.  Became great friends and did many things together for the past 50 years plus.  He is in a better place now. He and Ernie are together.   Heidi and I will miss him greatly.

I am sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He gave so much of his time to make what old boys rugby is today in the US and Colorado. Thank you Fred for all that you did.

Fred was in the group of Barbos old boys who taught us the ropes and held us accountable on and off the pitch.  He loved Rugby and he was a shining example of how to be a steward.

Rest well mate,

Yes, we are sad to hear of Fred's passing.  He was a significant force for rugby, on and off the field.  It was time for him to hang up is spurs.  Fred, say hello to Earnie and the other CSOB's that are there to great you.

Hello Bill,

I got a call from Cheryl Chavtal and said she heard that Fred' service is going to be this Thursday on 7/24. I told her that there wasn't any thing on theCSOB'S website about a service. If you could get back to me and let me know what is up.

Thank you
Bruce
