I hope this newsletter finds you well, and that life - however it’s unfolding - is treating you with kindness. Whether you’re chasing sunshine in Sydney, sipping coffee in Vancouver, or simply enjoying a quiet moment wherever you call home. PACKAGES I apologise for the delay, we are very, very close to finalising the packages and I know that it is the critical piece of information you require. As a result we have extended the Early Bird deadline to September 30th so teams can make an informed decision.    REFEREES We know we are going to have a substantial turnout of participating teams and players in Vancouver, the biggest for some time and we are also going to need a robust pool of qualified referees to support the event. Please see below the contact details and a message from Mike Honer our Referees Manager.   WOMENS TEAMS To date we have 2 women’s teams entered - The Wobblyroos from Australia, and the Antediluvians from Edmonton, Alberta. If you know of any people and/or teams that may be interested please let me know. If you are an individual women player and you’re looking for a team - come and join the fun.   GOLDEN OLDIES RUGBY LOGO We have recently been alerted to not only unauthorised use of our registered and trademarked logo but also in some instances the old logo as created by Air New Zealand that was subsequently altered in 2014. (See below) We are not looking to be heavy handed and to stop people using our logo. We, however, do insist that the correct logo is used and that you source the artwork file from us. All we ask is that you tell us what you are using it for and when. Then if it is at all possible we will also help promote your event and thereby assist in growing the Golden Oldies Rugby movement. NB from October 1 the Festival entry fee will be CAD$400     Download Entry Form     TEAM ENTRY NEWS   EBB TIDE RFC • VICTORIA, B.C.       The Ebb Tide Rugby Football Club is the oldest continuously operating Over-40 rugby club in British Columbia, Canada. We have active players between the ages of 38 and 70's and active social members well into their 80's.  Social members and visitors are welcome to join us at our regular Thursday evening run-around.  Ebb Tide is a member of the Pacific Northwest Over 40's Rugby Union. Ebb Tide was selected as the name for the new Victoria rugby club as this was the name used when ex-Crimson Tide players occasionally played an oldies game.   SEE WHO’S ENTERED   Calling all Referees       I have had the honour to be the Referee’s Manager for the Perth and Singapore Festivals and enjoyed it so much I’m back for the Vancouver Festival in 2027. Consequently I am now asking for those within our fraternity who would like to participate as a referee at the 25th Golden Oldies Rugby Festival in Vancouver B.C. to contact me and register your interest. We will have a unique and new strip for you to wear with pride that will be something to cherish for years to come. Being a referee and part of a Festival is something we hold close to our hearts. So if you feel like dusting off your boots and packing a whistle please join us in 2027 for some Fun, Friendship and Fraternity. You will be required to purchase a Festival package that will be published on the website and in the next newsletter very soon.
