IMP: Thesis finalisation

Dear Students,

Guides are required to finalise the Theses marks today/tomorrow. I came to know that some of you have not completed a decent draft of the Thesis yet which is reviewed at least once/twice. And some are simply not even responding or working on the suggestions made by the guide(s). Those who have not had a complete draft reach a decent final form for marking cannot be allowed to submit as the marks would not match the final form, even if it can be reached within the time frame.

I have updated the PEMP Thesis Guidelines presentation. Please refer to it while finalising the theses.

Dear Students and Guides,

I request you all to go through the updated presentation containing the Guidelines and make sure the Thesis has been formatted according to them. I am seeing the same problems with Theses that were supposedly finalised.

Main areas of concern are:

1. Chap 2 has copy-pasted material
   
2. Chap 3 is meant strictly for Literature Review. It is not a place to add Background Theory. Please move the background to Chap 2.
3. Summary of Literature Review has summaries of individual literature pieces. And same is not critical; check my presentation
4. Conclusion (Chapter 8) has
1. Summary: Technical Summary in paragraph form
2. Conclusions (note the plural): Set of (at least one; two would be for a really great work) actual conclusions drawn. No summary bullets here. These are _contribution_ to knowledge. That means each has a potential to become basis of a publication!
5. Citations and References: Just does not go away even with the best of students. I am fed up.
   
1. All students has to refer the CU-H Guide (available on CU site or on our local ftp server: ftp://192.168.1.53/CU-Harvard-Reference-Style/Harvard_Guide_v3.0.1.pdf)  (not just the Quick start doc) and use it.
   
2. Need complete information; see my presentation
6. The template has some corrections to be made:
1. Add a dot after S in M. S Ramaiah in the Header (you have to do it for the title page as well as one of the main pages)
2. Again in the Header, add a tab before the MSRSAS logo so that it sits on the right edge
3. Remove the footer from the Title page
7. Consistent case
1. Title case for all chapter titles
2. Title/Sentence case for Section titles, Table and Figure captions (follow one case for all of these)
8. Results chapter
1. Do not mix testing/validation and results. They are different things. Refer to my presentation
   

Since I have been ordered to complete another work by Saturday, I will be not be able to spend time on PEMP theses before Sunday. So, all theses from the department would be finalised next week only,

Dear All,

As one of students pointed out, and correctly answered his own query, (see below) there are some more corrections needed in the templates. PEMP stands for a singular "Programme". So, please do the corrections.

The first page header is: M.S Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies –Postgraduate Engineering and Management Programmes (PEMP) The second page header is : M.S Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies –Postgraduate Engineering and Management Programme (PEMP)The cover page of the thesis (Corel Draw file downloaded from  also has Programmes

I guess the correct one is : M. S. Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies – Postgraduate Engineering and Management Programme (PEMP). (Corrections highlighted in red) 
Please let us know.
