I am thinking of going to Asheville, NC for a conference at the end of
February. I'd like to drive. Does it ever snow at that time of year or is
it too far south? Any advice would be appreciated.

TIA.

It's not common, but snow is definitely possible in western North Carolina
at that time of year. A few years ago a bunch of us here went to a
retreat at a mountain inn in late February, and almost got snowed in
overnight.

I wouldn't let is keep you from driving, though. The chances of serious
trouble are rather low. Just don't try to take the Blue Ridge Parkway
through the Mount Mitchell or Mount Pisgah areas without checking the road
conditions first. One year my wife and I tried to drive to Mount Mitchell
during spring break (early March) and had to turn back because the Parkway
was still closed there.
