Job Summary:
The Contracts Manager is a key management member of the Contracts Function. The Contracts Manager is responsible for the overall management of all Client contracts for products and/or services and related subcontracts in India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka and for the resolution of all related contractual issues in accordance with Schlumberger’s Client Contracts Risk Standard (CCRS).

Reports directly to the South & East Asia Senior Contracts Manager.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
• Owns the Client contract process in India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka from the moment the tender evaluation commences up to the end date of the Client contract.
• Works with Sales & Commercial and participates in the tender evaluation, assessment and response process to ensure all Contract-related terms and conditions (whether legal or commercial) are properly addressed and assists Sales & Commercial to negotiate legal terms and conditions and commercialize the opportunity.
• Along with Sales & Commercial and the relevant Group/Product Line, ensures that a Contract Owner is assigned to each Client Contract.
• Reviews and assesses the liabilities present in our Client contracts in order to provide expert advice to the local management team.
• Collaborates with the Legal Department, Finance Department (including Tax), Health Safety Environment Department, Procurement & Sourcing Department, Operations (or any other department/function) as appropriate, to ensure contractual and commercial risks and exposures are clearly identified, analyzed and properly addressed in contractual provisions.
• Assists operations managers, the management team and the relevant departments/functions with the review and assessment of the commercial exposures present in our Client contracts and subcontracts
• Ensures that Schlumberger Client contracts for products and/or services signed in their location are in compliance with the Client Contracts Risk Standard and Schlumberger contracting guidelines
• Completes a Contracts Rating Sheet for each Client contract reviewed and ensures these are electronically filed in the relevant Contracts database.
• Generates contracts reports on a regular and ad-hoc basis to properly monitor active and expiring contracts, escalation opportunities, contract owner assignment, other data, as the case may be;
• Interacts with all necessary support functions and departments in matters related to Client contracts and subcontracts.
• Provides overall Contractual advice to local management and actively seek involvement in business plans, strategies and operations in line with GeoMarket/Group/Product Line/Function strategies.
• Maintains Contracts files and manages and administers contract-related records in the relevant Contracts and Legal IT databases (CRM, LKMS);
• Identifies and proposes improvements to existing contracting procedures, guidelines, playbooks, tender procedures, practices as needed to improve the contract management processes and function.
• Manages and supervises Contracts personnel (i.e. Contracts Analysts, etc.) at the location.
• Manages informal contract claims or disputes with the support of the Legal Department whenever necessary.
• Ensures and promotes compliance with Schlumberger policies, standards, procedures, and contractual obligations.
• Participates in and/or conducts presentations and workshops related to contracting standards, processes and/or reviews, the Contracts Function training and development initiatives and completes all assigned training.
• Assists the GeoMarket Contract Manager on contracts-related initiatives, as required.
• Collaborates with the Legal Department, as appropriate to ensure contractual risks are clearly identified and properly addressed in contractual provisions.
• Collaborates with the Legal Department in the performance of Operations Assurance Reviews when requested.
• Participates in assigned Contracts Function strategic initiatives.
• Conducts periodic contractual audits to measure the level of contractual compliance at the location as well as identifies areas of improvement.
• Along with the Contract Owner, leads and proactively manages all aspects of Post Award Contract Management including (but not limited to) any Contracts Audit Post Award Contract Reviews (PACR), Mid Term Contract Reviews (MTCR) including follow up of action items of Remedial Work Plans.
• Must become familiar with and use all Legal Department systems and tools and contribute to the LKMS and LawHub.
• Provides support, coaching and guidance to Legal Support Centre Contracts Analysts, where applicable, and assists with their career development.
• Actively contributes to the development and success of the Legal Support Centres.
Previous Experience and Competencies:
• Degree in law from a recognized university in India.
• Minimum 7 to 12 years’ experience in the related industry including experience and/or exposure in Operations, Legal, Contracts or Law Firms. Prior experience in law firms or in-house legal or contracts role preferred. Prior experience in energy / infrastructure industry and handling tender terms negotiations would be an added advantage.
• Excellent communication skill, both oral and written.

• High level of collaboration with others.
• Excellent legal writing skills.
• Fluent English.
• Excellent understanding of both commercial and legal contractual risks and contractual risks mitigation.

• Must display an aptitude for following processes and attention to detail.
• Must have strong ethics in dealings with sensitive information.
• Ability to demonstrate principled leadership with sound business ethics and consistency with principles, values, and behavior.
