Form MGT-1

Dear All,

Can anybody please suggest what relevance does the column "Total Shares held" in Form MGT-1 has? Please suggest which view is correct:

1.Is it similar to "Balance of Shares held"?

2.Is that the number of shares held before the acquisition/transfer of shares should be mentioned there?.i.e. like an opening balance of the shares which shall be the Balance of shares held at the previous date.

3.The total no. of shares in that class are to be mentioned.because the Format says that the register is to be maintained for each class of equity shares.

Please provide your valuable inputs.

YES  it is similar to 1 and 3 is applicable..

in one sheet total shares held will go upto the no. of rows equal to no.of column of balance shares  which u can give according to the format of MGT-1

Hii Sakshi as per my view, it will operate like first you will fill personal details of the member then after filling those 19 columns.. the details of the column no. 17 will come every time in total shares held column after allotment/transfer/transmission etc.

But then is it not repetition of information? whats the relevance of that column then?

it is repetition.. but thats the only way we will be able to know the current holding of a member after allotment/transfer etc.. repetition is also there in column no. 3 and 4 and in 13 and 14 where in we r required to enter 2 times no of shares transferrred and their distinctiv no's in these columns.. but its MCA format what we can do.. we have to repeat..

However, i notice that there isnt repition in 3&4 and 13&14. This is so because 3&4 demand for no. of shares and their distinctive numbers when shares are acquired and 13&14 demand for no. of shares and their distinctive numbers regarding shares which are sold.

Hii Sakshi heading of column 3 is no. of shares alloteed or transferred.. so we to have in every case..
