Law Courses Through Distance / Online Learning

‘Distance Learning’ as quoted by Dr. S B Mujumdar, Founder, Symbiosis International University is, “the education of the 21st century. The traditional method of teaching in a classroom called ‘brick & mortar’ education has failed to reach millions of those who are thirsty for getting knowledge in an age marked by “Knowledge Revolution”. Distance Education and Open Learning fulfill this need. Distance learning opens new directions of opportunities to obtain higher education without the constraints of location and time.” This is true considering India’s population and the geographical distances.

Amidst GATS, WTO, the Service industry is in a boom and has a bright future. This is true for education also. To take education to the masses and more reachable, distance learning is now being considered as another effective medium. For promoting distance education, Government of India has formed the Distance Education Council.

“Technology, information revolution and Globalization have had their impact on the legal profession too. Legal professionals are always required to upgrade their knowledge. Cyber law, intellectual property law (copyright, patents, trademarks, designs), Technology law (IT), Securities law, ADR (alternative dispute resolution) are some of the emerging areas.

This Article aims to highlight the Legal Courses offered through distance / online mode by reputed law schools and Universities in India. These post graduate courses will be particularly beneficial for LLBs, Company Secretaries, Chartered Accountants, MBAs, etc. since they provide focused and in-depth knowledge on the subject. Since these courses are through distance / online medium, working people can be most benefited along with students doing full time courses. Dear Anand

Yes there are lot of distance education courses for legal. These are not recognised by Bar council of India for practice of lawyer. Anybody can join and pass the following courses and please note they are not entitled for practice. Please inform me whether any of these courses recognised for practice with Bar council of India. I think somebody asked the query only for practice.

Views are invited.

Dear All,

None of the courses mentioned in my above article are recognised by
Bar Council and my article also does not say so anywhere. Please note
that any article which I put up is after researching and fetching of
information from reliable sources.

The purpose of my article has been clearly mentioned in. These courses
can be a 'value addition' to professionals without going anywhere.

Apart from LLB, no other course in India is recognised by BCI for
practice.

No query was asked. I have willingly shared this article.

Best Regards,
- Anand Wadadekar

Dear Anand

I only shared my concern about these articles. I only cleared apprehension. You are correct and your article never say anything about  approval of Bar Council.  People should not take wrong impression that is why i posted my  views.  Thanks Anand for your nice article. I fully agree with your views.

Regards

Dear All,

I got a feedback that I sounded harsh in my first reply.

Would like to clear to you all that I didnt meant to hurt anybody
since we are after all here to share and express our free views and so
going by that logic this also applies to me.

I would like to make it clear once more for you all that, the courses
listed in my article are NOT recognised by BCI and so does not make
one eligible for practice. These courses are meant for value addition
to a professionals credentials since these courses are offered by
reputed Institutes in India, which have good market value and
recognition in the job market.

Thanks Mr. Rengarajan for appreciating my article.

Regards,
- Anand Wadadekar
