CS with CMA (US)

Could anybody suggest how the combination of CS & CMA (US) and how the oppurtunities in India & Abroad???

Dear Rajesh,

CMA from the USA is a good course and has immense reputation, out of India.

Unfortunately, Indian companies do not recognise the CMA (USA).

It is only the MNCs from US that have set up their back office operations in India, recognise this.

These jobs are predominantly based on shifts / US timings. So unless you are willing to work on this time, it would not be beneficial.

However, once you complete CMA (USA) you could get your membership to ICWAI (India), by paying a membership fee.

This is due to the MOU signed between the two organisations w.e.f. 2008.

CS + ICWA have got immense opportunities, in India.

CMA (US) has got wide opportunities in the GCC nations and in South East Asian countries, but then your CS would have little value.

Dear All,

I notice that quite a few qualified CS are interested in doing courses, to enhance their skills & open new boundaries, in their professional life.

I very much appreciate the thought, and also support them.

A word of caution, here.

With due respect to all courses available – CS is one of the most toughest and prestigious qualification, one could ever achieve.

Having completed & qualified as a CS, it wouldn’t be wise to begin all again from zero, for a new qualification, that does not add value to the existing one.

CMA / CIMA / ACCA are courses I would say will not 100% add value to CS, from the Indian perspective (for those who are employed).

For those into practice, unless your client is an MNC.

A MBA / CA / ICWAI would for sure add value to a CS qualification, from the Indian perspective, either if you are an employee or into practice.

These will always have an edge over & above the others, in India.

There is no qualification or course that 100% goes well with another. It is always a mix & match game.

So, please be wise in picking & choosing the courses you prefer to do, by adding value to your existing ones.

Never ever select any qualification, that would belittle your existing qualification and that renders your time & effort you put in so far – redundant.

Remember time is always precious.

And always have a big picture – what & where do you see yourself in 5 / 10 years from now.
