EDIFAR
EDIFAR is Electronic Data Information Filing and Retrieval system. Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in association with National Informatics Center (NIC) has set up the EDIFAR website to facilitate filing of certain documents/statements by the listed companies on line on the web site. This would involve electronic filing of information in a standard format by the companies. This system will have several benefits by way of dissemination of information to various classes of market participants like investors, regulatory organisation, research institutions etc., This would also be useful to the companies and the stock exchanges.This system is being introduced in a phased manner and would be applicable to 2645 companies .

In order to use the EDIFAR system to file statements/documents a company needs to register itself in the system. A downloadable registration form is provided on the site. This form needs to be filled up and submitted by company to BSE/NSE where it is listed. If it is listed on both, then the form can be submitted to either BSE or NSE. After due authentication by stock exchange, the form would be sent to NIC. On receipt of the form, a user id and password would be created and the company intimated about it. Once registered, the company can submit the statements/documents using the system.
General users do not need to register to view the statements/documents on the website.
General users can use the web site to query and retrieve data.
Companies need to log into the system to submit the statements/documents. To use the system for submitting the statements/documents a company has to log into the web site by clicking on the Members hyperlink and supplying the user id and password.
The following statements/information would be available on the website.
Financial statements comprising of balance sheet, profit and loss account and full version of annual report; half yearly financial statements including cash flow statements and quarterly financial statements.
Corporate governance reports
Quarterly shareholding pattern statement.
Action taken against the company by any regulatory agency.
The list of companies is available in an alphabetical order. The required company can be chosen from a pull-down menu and then the information available for that company is displayed.
Financial details namely balance sheet, profit and loss account and full version of annual report half yearly financial statements including cash flow statements and quarterly financial statements would be available for the companies. Some of these documents would also be available in PDF format. (Also see section on querying). These details can be viewed by clicking on the Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements-Shareholding Pattern-Segment Reports or Documents link on the main page of the website.
Yes. Users can use the web site to query and retrieve data. However initially only header queries are available for searching/querying based on information available in the header of a statement i.e. the name of the company, type of statement and the year/date of filing of the statements/documents. A user can thus retrieve a particular statement for one company for a particular time period using the user-friendly pull down menus.

Statements like Quarterly Financial Results, Shareholding pattern statement and Segment reports can be printed using the browser print option.
