Stamp duty is 25 paise for Rs. 100 consideration for sale i.e 0.25% of sale consideration. In case of gift stamp duty is paid on face value of shares of the company. Stamp duty on share transfer is uniform all over India.

Poonam.

But in case of Transmission or gift deed is prepared the Consideration is NIL.
Then whether the valuation of shares has to be done?

Thanks & Regards,

In legal parlance transmission does not mean transfer strictly. It is
a change in ownership by operation of law. I am of the considered view
that there are no legislation puts forth any stamp duty on share
transfer by means of transmission. However, you may have to look into
the mode of acquisition of such rights (like WILL attracts stamp duty
for Probate before a court of law).
