Dear Vinod

As far as FM is concerned you should have a firm grip in all the Concepts, then only you can solve the Problems.

I suggest you to give at least 2 readings to ICSI Study Material, solve all the 65 problems given at the end of the same at east 2 times (First understand the Problem & copy the same by conceptually understanding the same, second time close the book and solve under Examination Conditions, do it only after you complete all the 65 problems at least once)

FTFM Paper is for 140 Marks(including choice), you need to decide upfront whether you are planning to attempt 80 Marks Problems + 20 Marks Theory or 60 Marks Theory + 40 Marks Problems, based on that you have to plan your preparation.

Solve all the problems that are asked in the Last 6 to 10 Exam sessions (Refer Guideline answers for the same)

Prepare a Quick reference book containing all the formulae of FTFM, So that you can read the same as many times as you can and before the Exam day, it will save most of your time.

Emphasize more on Cost of Capital,Capital Structure,Working Capital & Capital Budgeting, it does not mean you can leave the rest of the topics

Coming to CRI, Atleast 3 readings to ICSI Study Material, First try to complete Part-B (Insolvency) for 30 Marks then start Part-A

In Part-A, Try to complete Takeover,M&A,Financial Restructuring Topics, then start reading other topics

Guidelines & Suggested Answers from the last 6 to 10 Exam Sessions

If time permits, try to prepare some short notes, don't prepare it exhaustively, make it as short as possible

Coming to 4th Module, at least 3 readings to ICSI Study material and same guidelines & Suggested answers

Ethics & Sustainability paper, complete Parts B & C First, then only go to Part-A

Study material is more than enough and even though it takes time to give those many readings, it surely gives you the positive Result.

For all the Subjects, keep one separate notes and write only "LESSON ROUND UP" given at the end of every topic, all the important points are covered there and it will be useful in giving last minute Brush-up to all the topics and you will have a chance to skim through all the topics within an hour and psychologically you will feel, all the topics I revised, on the Exam day also you study this Lesson Round Up

For all the subjects, whatever you studied from Monday to Saturday, Revise the Same Topics on Sunday and no new topics on sunday, Sunday is a revision day

It is my suggestion only, To follow the same or not, its up to you

All the Best, I Wish you will come out with flying colours in the ensuing Exam Session and you can contact me for any guidance

Thanks & Regards
Your Wellwisher

Dear Vinod, no need of thanks You are most welcome

I am a student who qualified in June-12 (1st attempt) & undergoing Training in a Listed Company, so please dont call me as sir

Given the paucity of time, I suggest you to give at least one reading to ICSI Study Material and implement the rest of the things whatever I suggested.

If time permits, then to certain topics give one more reading

As you are working, if there is any free time during your working hours, read the study material online which is available in the Institute's Website.

Try to utilize whatever the limited time you have and try to make most of the time available, do justice to the time available in such a way that you should not repent after writing the exams that "I wasted the time, Had I utilised properly, I could have performed well"

So no regrets after the exams, there should not be even 0.1% default from your end

K all the best

Your Friend

Sirish

Thank you

For Module-1, CSP Paper we should have good knowledge in Company Law, cos it is like extension to the Company Law, Concentrated more on Practical aspects

There are hardly some 150 Resolutions, given in Annexures, so make a habit of writing 2 Resolutions everyday and read them two times on the same day, just by reading the Resolutions (no matter how many times we read) we can not write well in the exams, so if we write it is better for us,moreover they will come as compulsory question for 20 Marks

For various procedures, just try to make them short and write them by using short cut words and key words, before starting CSP,brush up the basics of Company Law in CS Executive syllabus.

Try to get a firm grip on the first 12 topics out of 20(total topics) in CSP ICSI Study Material

For Drafting, It takes lot of time to write each and every agreement, so just focus on the contents of each agreement and try to cut short the agreement & note down the key terms(refer the enclosed attachment which I prepared for my June-2012 exams, 2 deeds for example, you will get some idea)

In drafting out of 140 Marks, they may ask agreements for 30 / 40 Marks, so emphasize on the other areas excluding agreements and 6 to 10 lessons consume less time to complete and will be asked for 50 marks at least, so study well and give at least 2 or 3 readings to other topics i.e., excluding agreements.

No one can 100% draft an agreement at student level(some exceptional people may do), try to build a draft & contents are very important(refer the enclosed attachment), each agreement study two times

For Module 3, Strategic Management, only paper where choice exceeds 140 marks, it will be asked for 160 Marks including choice, we need to attempt 100 Marks only.

In ICSI Study Material, Part-B & Part-C, less number of pages and together less number of pages when compared to Part-A, and two parts with less no. of pages contribute 60 Marks & part-A consumes more time and only 40 Marks, so give three readings to Parts B & C and two to part-A, try to score 40 at least out of 60(parts B & C) AND atleast 20 in part-A, then you will score around 55 to 60

Guidelines,Lesson Round-up and all such things are same like I suggested for Module 2, 4

Coming to ATL, No matter how many books one prepares, we can not predict what questions they ask in Direct Taxes, for those 30 Marks it may be time consuming if we prepare all the heads of income, for 30 marks even though how much we struggle, we may not score more than 20 marks, so study only ICSI Study material for direct taxes and dont refer some n number of books for the same

We know the boundaries in Indirect taxation & International Taxation, I mean if we prepare the Study material well, then we are sure of faring well in the exams because they are asking within the ICSI study material

Prepare perfectly those two parts and try to score atleast, around 40 to 45 out of 70 and rest of the 30 may give you 10 to 15 around

Dont neglect the problems in excise & customs, thorough with all the valuation rules and concepts which helps us in solving the problems and attempt the problems too in exam

We need to give repeated readings then only we can understand and interpret the provisions accurately and especially Customs & Excise

Whatever the plan I gave, its my personal opinion and thats how even I prepared and tasted success in first attempt, so make some changes as required and which may suit your style of preparation, everyone will have their own methodologies in preparation.

Try to prepare notes using key words and short cuts for all the topics if time permits

All the Best

Thanks & Regards
