Query on Shares Folio No.

Greetings !!!

 

Would request to clarify the following;

 

For instance, in first allotment ‘A’ is allotted 100 shares and ‘B’ is allotted 100 shares. The same is entered in the Register of members regarding the allotment details. Now Folio No given for ‘A’ be 1 and ‘B’ is 2, each in different pages respectively.

 

1.     In second allotment, ‘A’ is allotted 500 shares and ‘B’ is allotted 500 shares. Will this be folio no.3 and 4 is new sheets Or it continues in 1 & 2 ?

 

Though the no. of members is only 2, but perplexity in this folio. Do advice.

 

2.     Whether all transfer and further allotment to existing member will be combined in 1 page in the register.

Dear Mr. Riju,

Folio no. allotted to any shareholder remains the same always, i.e. till the time he continues to be the member of the company.

Lets say first allotment is A-1 alloted 100 shares to Mr. A (Folio No. 1)., share certificate No.1

than on second allotement i.e. A-2, alloted 500 shares to Mr. A.(Folio No. 1), share certifiacte No. 2 

Folio number is a kind of Roll No. which is alloted to a student in a class. it remains the same whole year irrespective of exams conducted during the year. It will change when the class is change.

In the same manner Folio No. of any shareholder remains the same, till the time he ceases to be member. .

You will have to make the entry of second allotment on the same of the shareholder.

With due respect to CS Shilpi answer in case of subsequent allotment of share to the same shareholder by way of corporate action, the folio number alloted  of the share certificate holder will be different.
