Respected Sir/Madam,

First of all thanks to mother ICSI for spoiling my valuable 6 years & Finally my decision to say "Goodbye to CS (I Quit)".

I have registered myself in 2010 & every time trying hard to clear cs professional exams but on the result day "Fail by aggregate". I am left with only 2 modules and till today i have not understand the paper correction criteria. Every attempt i am giving my best but unable to clear CS Professionals due to paper evaluation policy. I am not in a position to explain to my parents about CS Professionals. Every time they asked about results & my answer makes them nervous.

It is better to go for MBA so that i can get MBA graduate degree in 2 years, many of my friends did their MBA & at present they are exploring in their career. When it comes to me still struggling in clearing 2 modules of CS Professionals.

I would also like to highlight some of the issues which Institute is neither considering the matters nor taking any action.

- In my view instead of checking paper quality/content they are considering paper quantity (how many pages a student has written)
- Still many of the students after clearing their exams opting for name lending option & simultaneously working for other Companies to get high amount of monthly salary. with this practice, just think for the students who are suffering from the past 6 to 7 attempts & struggling hard to get the suitable jobs.
- In new syllabus under module 3 elective paper was there & allowing us to write the exam called open book method. some of the students writing well by seeing the books but getting aggregate marks and fail. what is this i don't know?

It is not that we are least bothered about CS Professionalism, i can also challenge that we (failure candidates) can counter a qualified professional as well.

I would also like to share that, when i joined CS course, i was very active & energetic but by writing 6 to 7 attempts i lost everything.

Finally i request to ICSI, please think deeply about the future of old registered CS students. please don't make them to write 6-7 attempts by spending their valuable 5 to 6 years. I request to look into the content of the paper rather than no. of pages written.

Once again have a great future of all of you & GOOD BYE TO CS (I Quit).

Dear Surendra,

Instead of blaming Institute, find out loopholes which you had done during the exams, beside there are lot of CA student giving exam for their entire life than also they not tired to give exams, because there is hope every time.

ICSI never think who are old or new student, ICSI maintain its standard like ICAI

I must say

"Vo jeet hi kya jo aasani se hasil ho"

Keep trying

God bless u

HI Mr. Surender,

I totally agree with you.

Its not that CS qualified or not qualified and giving counters to the qualified persons.

In my view i say its totally based on the luck.

Even i had wrote 6 attempts.

Kindly dont target anyone directly or indirectly.

There are many persons who can counter qualified or vice versa.

Just give another try, And i pray to god to give you great future in what ever the field you choose.

In case if i said anything wrong please accept my sorry, Cuz even i know the pain of getting failed.

Good Morning All,

Not a great morning for me too. Even I have been attempting CS Professional from a long time, and now I have to switchover to new syllabus which is the sad part, because it adds up two more subjects. I have no option left other than trying again, so lets again give a full hearted attempt hoping that the luck favours us this time. Its all about time my friend.

Dear Mr.Surender,

Any Institute examiners will check only the quality and content of the paper at the time of checking/correction, not in quantity (not like you said how much paper they wrote). It is not an university or college paper to see the quantity of papers.  It is up to my knowledge.  Try again and pray the god one day you will succeed. Many of us will know the pain of getting failed.

In case if i said anything wrong please accept my apology.

Only 6 years?? If you look around in CS fraternity, you will find many cs who cleared the exam in more than six years, including me even one of my friends is still struggling to clear the exam since last 8 years.

Think once before leaving.

Dear All,
Dont blame Institute. Find your loop points.
Everyone works during to clear exams.Do quality study not quantity study.Write only what has been asked in simple manner. Dont just write full pages to show examiner that answer is written as per marks alloted to it.
Read Bangar for Tax for CS Professional Exams to get 50+ Marks.

Best of Luck.

Surender,

A good majority of those who have not cleared have lost it only due to the aggregate. I too was one of those who lost in the aggregate by 3 marks and ended up clearing it in the second attempt.

My views are as under :

- I disagree with you when you say that the institute looks at quantity rather than quality. Examiners are themselves busy people who look for the important points, case laws etc rather than essay type answers and evaluate on this basis.

- Apply for copies of your answer scripts, cross verify it with suggested answers, have it evaluated by some one at the institute. The institute is willing to provide copies of answer scripts these days. Not so 10 years ago when i was writing and had to go through the RTI route to obtain answer sheet copies. On a verification of the answer sheets by a professional i was able to trace the lacunae and know exactly where i missed out. It is better to assess and take corrective action immediately rather than shoot in the dark.

- Write an exam only when you are thoroughly prepared for it. Covering 70% of the subject and expecting 50% in the exam won't work. You will probably end up with 25 or 30 simply because the evaluator does not like to read mediocre papers (this is a human tendency). A mistake which most students do.

- Students do the mistake of starting off with the CS scanner and looking for repeated questions and using the study material and books only as a reference. Rather it should be the other way around. Scanner is to be used only after you are through with the material.

- It is not only about studying hard, it is about studying smart. If you would have noticed some of the case studies are based on case laws which are published in student company secretary magazine a few months before exam (atleast they used to be during my days)

-Lastly, do not get carried away by negative happenings like name lending. The people who ride two horses at a time do not know the risk they are taking. For 10-15K more, they are risking their career.

My advice is to reconsider your decision more so considering that you have only two groups to go at the professional level. Even if you take up an MBA or any other course it would mean another two years. Invest half of that time in the current course and i am sure you will be successful.

Wishing you the very best.

Rgds
Sitaram

Well said Sitaram Sir.

Dear Surender every failure teach us something and we should take it in positive way always. for example once you become CS you have more knowledge and information about the subjects than others.

Think and read about all the legend who were once nothing but they came over with there problems after so many attempts without giving up (read

Brother,
Please don't get disheartened.
I humbly disagree with your assessment of our examiners. CS is a very tough course like CA and CWA. These are professional courses which drain the energy out of students who get into them.
Please try improving your drafting skills, and knowledge base.
I took 4 attempts for Intermediate (called as Executive now) and 6 attempts for Final (called as Professional now). One of those time in Final, I lost by 6 marks in the aggregate. Result was that I had to give four more attempts. I was so depressed that I started looking for other venues like banking exams, provident fund commissioner exams, writing XAT, CAT, etc.
I humbly think you have done a common mistake, which I too did as a CS student, and that is to study only for CS.
For all new entrants, I advise them to also go for LLB (which is a terrific combination), which takes three years. If they are unable to complete CS in that time, then they can go for LLB. This is also advantageous as LLB after 30 years is risky due to Bar Council restrictions.
Alternatively a good MBA course is also advisable. I don't encourage multiple professional qualifications i.e. CS with CA or CWA or both, as all these three professions have the same amount of blood, sweat and tears.
Brother, this is just the beginning, you will not believe what happens once you are in employment or practice.
Please study any additional degree along, and don't get disheartened.
-Ulhas

Dear Surender,

Please don’t get disheartened with your result..

I have my father’s friend who registered for the ICWA course in 1986 & has finally cleared his finals in 2012 (after 26 years) .

He had been writing all the while, with a hope to clear the exams & has never ever failed to file his exam fees.

There are many more like him in ICWA & CA courses.

On a lighter note – during those days ICWA  used to be called – “I Come & Write Always”

So you are not alone… there are many more like you, living on the hope to clear the exams & striving day & night to put in the best of their efforts.

Getting back, As Mr. Ulhas has mentioned below, it is a very valid point.

As CS / CWA / CA are professional courses, engaging oneself into another course (which shares the same subjects) is a good option.

It would always act as a fall back plan, just in case you are unable to clear any of the CS / CWA / CA examinations.

As Ulhas has rightly said, MBA or an LLB, would best suit this.

Getting to the point of clearing the professional examinations (be it CS / CWA / CA) you would need to consider the following

1.     Most of the papers are theory based – It calls for memorising & reproducing at least 90% of your memory onto exam paper.

2.     Evaluators do not spend more than 2- 5 mins / question – so your handwriting needs to be very legible & clear.

3.     Quality of the answer – Being brief to the point & clarity on the subject

4.     Case Study based questions – This calls for clarity in expression of the provisions, your thoughts & the logic behind your reasoning.

5.     Diagrams / Charts – Introducing pictures / diagrams that speak more than what you write, wherever possible.

Do a self - appraisal & identify your weak areas & target them first.. that would build your confidence level…

If you haven’t succeded, it does not mean that you haven’t prepared well, it means that have to change your preparation strategy.

In case you would need assistance in any subject, Just shoot a mail & would be glad to lend a helping hand.

Remember – a well organised & reasoned answer paper, will need an in-depth reading. There is no short cut to this.

Wishing you all the very best…

Thanks & Regards,

Challa Madhukar
