Dear

In my opinion the PT is meant for the professionals rendering services to the company in the PROFESSIONAL NATURE, while when we talk about the nature of directorship we didnt consider the nature of services as professionals except the persons covering under the proviso to section 309 (1), eg Dr, media persons, in the respective industry.

Therefore, the TDS, rate shall be applicable as of a salaried person!

i feel your query is not clear...i assume that your question is if
Profession tax has been deducted from salary then is it necessary to
pay Profession tax again for the same director...if this is the
question then in my opinion if you pay once it is enough compliance
Pls clarify

Mr.Patnaik,

Do you mean that the state of Andhra Pradesh (AP) deducts professional tax other than the Central levy?

Please clarify.

Mr.Patnaik,

My question would have been otherway! Sorry.

Profession Tax is state levy and there is no central legislation for deducting PT.
