Hi,

Has anyone recently incorporated any company in Thane, Maharashtra? 

The Master data is showing "MR" instead of MH in the CIN number of a newly incorporated company. 

Anyone facing this issue?

This is an automated glitch or database mapping error on the MCA V3 portal.

Legally and structurally, "MH" is the only correct alpha code for Maharashtra in a 21-digit Corporate Identification Number (CIN). There is no official "MR" state code in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) guidelines.

Why Is This Happening?

When MCA migrates data, rolls out portal updates (especially under the V3 framework), or introduces script changes at the back-end (such as the recent automated flags for "Small Company" status), data fields can occasionally get scrambled. It appears that the portal's data-generation script erroneously mapped or displayed "MR" for certain new incorporations in the Mumbai/Thane ROC jurisdiction.

Step-by-Step Resolution

If your newly incorporated company’s official Certificate of Incorporation (CoI) has the correct "MH" code, but only the online Master Data displays "MR", you can resolve it through these steps:

Raise a Ticket on MCA V3: Log into your MCA account, navigate to the helpdesk, and raise a ticket under the category "Master Data Correction". Attach a copy of your approved Certificate of Incorporation showing the correct CIN.

Contact the ROC/CRC: Since Thane falls under the Registrar of Companies (ROC) Mumbai, you can also send a formal email to roc.m...@mca.gov.in or the Central Registration Centre (CRC) helpdesk describing the data mismatch.

Check Spice+ Part B PDF: Open your downloaded Spice+ form. If the data was submitted correctly as Maharashtra (MH), it is strictly a back-end system rendering issue that MCA tech support will need to clear.

Warning: Do not apply for a PAN/TAN, open a corporate bank account, or apply for GST using the "MR" variation. Wait for the master data to reflect the exact CIN printed on your physical Certificate of Incorporation to avoid systematic rejections later.
