SYNOPSIS: | |
Android is a mobile platform developed by Google for mobile devices. Since, its launch in 2008, it has rapidly overtaken other mobile platforms like Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry, & even Apple’s iOS. It has seen a magnificent growth and is fast becoming the preferred platform for the mobile vendors like HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson. Gartner says Android will be No.1 mobile platform by 2014 and will change the way consumers use their mobile phones. The aim of this workshop is to introduce Android platform with a fast-paced, interactive, hands-on session. The participants will get an opportunity to create innovative applications that take full advantage of the phone features. This workshop will cover:
The entire session is divided into hourly sessions followed by hands-on where we’ll learn how to write applications for Android. | |
Prerequisites: | |
Participants should have experience with any Object Oriented language and should be familiar with Java & XML syntax. Working knowledge of Eclipse is desirable (though not mandatory). Please get your own laptops. For the lab, Eclipse 3.5/3.6 with Android SDK is required. Eclipse has to be configured with the ADT(Android Development Tool) plugin and a suitable platform (OS build). More instructions can be found at http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html. We will also be providing CD’s at the venue for the same, and some help for installation, if need be. | |

Umar started his career at SEED Infotech where he headed the Object Center of Excellence for 4 years and worked as a developer & corporate trainer, providing trainings to corporate customers across India. He is currently working as a Lead Senior Specialist in Training at Persistent where he conducts trainings in various technologies and also provides guidance to developers on various projects. In his 8 years career of training, Umar has trained more than 3000 professionals & students on C++ based technologies. He was chosen as one of the best C++ trainers in Pune by Sela Youniversity, Israel for Amdocs. | |
