Ashok/Madhav/Shubhangi,
We are organizing National Science and ICT Quiz for school children. There will be regional rounds at 8 cities followed by the finals. Pune will be hosting the regional round for our region. This was discussed in the NCM attended by Rahul and Dr Acharya. We also discussed this when I attended Chapter MC meeting in last month. This is a very good activity to reach out the young talent and will also get lot of visibility.
Considerable progress is now made in this regard. Microsoft will be the National sponsor for the event. Regional round will have two elimination rounds – first at the school, second on the day of the quiz and regional final will be live on the stage. Around 5000 students from 40-50 schools will participate in the first elimination round, 8 teams from each school will participate in second elimination while 8 teams will qualify for regional finals. Winner from each region will participate in the national finals.
Total expenses for the contest could be around 1.00 lakh. We will get 35000 from HQ as part of national sponsorship, we will have raise remaining amount by local sponsorship. There will not be any registration fees for participation.
I have talked to Nikhil and Millennium school is ready to host this contest. Tentative date is February 26.
We will need lot of help from three of you and the other committee members. Also request you to provide two MC members who can take responsibility of this activity (apart from Nikhil and Rahul – they are already there).
Regards
Shekhar

Unfortunately nobody has come forward to support this event. Nikhil and Rahul are helping but they are always there in any activity and we require more people especially OBs to come forward and lead the activity.
Final event is scheduled on Saturday, February 26, 2011 9.00 a.m. and there are lot of activities to be done before that. We need your help especially for the following:
1. Provide some volunteers (students and professionals) to evaluate the answer sheets – we have till now conducted examination for more than 10000 students and will be covering 5000 more on Monday/Tuesday. Volunteers are required on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening. I am assuming you will be one of them.
2. On the similar lines volunteers for Grand Finale on Saturday
I am expecting all of you to be present for the Grand Finale – Sat. Feb 26 at 9.00 a.m. at Millennium school.
Regards
Shekhar
