About the DBS-NUS Social Venture Challenge Asia
 
Launched by DBS and NUS Enterprise, the DBS-NUS Social Venture Challenge Asia aims to identify and support new social ventures that have the potential to generate scalable and sustainable social impact. It is open to any budding or existing social entrepreneurs in the region. 
  
The Challenge goes beyond the ordinary. Apart from prize monies of SGD 55,000 in funding, overseas participants will have the chance to fly to Singapore and sharpen their ideas at the boot camp conducted by experts at NUS. Semi-finalists will be placed with mentors to build a strong business plan and this challenge will be an excellent networking opportunity.

Steps for Enrollment:
1.     Go to http://socialventurechallenge.asia/competition/ and register your team
2.     Register for a free workshop on the application process and business model canvas on 15th January 2014 at Villgro, 3rd Floor, IIT Madras Research Park, Kanagam Road, Taramani, (Behind Tidel Park, on Old Mahabalipuram Road), Chennai 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm
3.     Stay updated on all the latest opportunities for applicants
 
 
 Workshop for Applicants:
 
All applicants are invited to attend a free information workshop on the DBS NUS Social venture challenge and designing a business model canvas which will be conducted by Ennovent in partnership with Villgro. The workshop will give you a better insight into the application process as well as provide an opportunity to connect with like-minded peers and allow a free flow of ideas and knowledge. 
 
About Villgro
 
Villgro, formerly known as Rural Innovations Network, is a Non-profit organisation that focuses on spotting, mentoring and incubating innovations that have maximum potential to change lives, in Rural India. Founded by social entrepreneur Paul Basil, with the backing of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public and support of Rockefeller Foundation, Villgro began its journey in the year 2001 and has till date incubated over 43 innovations.
 
 
Ennovent is an innovation accelerator working with a range of clients - including entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, foundations, NGOs and companies - to accelerate innovations for sustainability in low- income markets in developing countries.

As part of promoting the challenge and helping interested applicants, we are organizing a series of workshops in 6 cities in India – Chennai (15th), Bangalore (16th), New Delhi (17th), Hyderabad (18th), Mumbai (20th) & Cochin (24th). The workshop is free and educates the participants on the Business Model Canvas and the application process and is an ideal opportunity to network and connect with peers and experts.
