Internship with SmarterGrades

SmarterGrades is an online, adaptive maths learning platform for school children which teaches through algorithmically generated questions. Most of the questions come with step by step explanations which require input from students at each step. This allows us to go back into a student's learning to figure out where their real weaknesses lie. We adapt to the individual student by figuring out the most suitable questions for them. Our decision on the most suitable questions is based on a model created at Carnegie Mellon University. This feeds into our gamification. Most other adaptive platforms prescribe the next question you are supposed to work on. We give you choice, but we incentivize through gamification you to pick the questions you should be doing. We have currently created the questions for class 6 and have run trials at 2 schools with our old user interface. We have implemented most of our new interface based on feedback and we are currently running small trials at Vasant Valley School with this new interface.

There are two types of interns we are looking at.

1. Web developers fluent in Ruby on Rails to work on the back-end. They should also be able to do the HTML and CSS parts given design templates.

2. Interns fluent in mathematics but with the ability to code. They will be creating the algorithmically generated questions as well as creating interesting javascript apps to help students learn.

Ideally looking for full time interns, at least to begin with during the summer. We would also hope the relationship could continue even after the summer, even if it is part time. We are based in Delhi and will be working partly out of the Vasant Valley School premises in Vasant Kunj and partly in Hauz Khas Enclave. 

The internships will be paid. Monthly salaries will start at Rs.5,000, but could go up to Rs.12,500 based on quality and quantity of work.
