Climate and Energy Team,
Green Cambridge will be hosting the 7th biennial Cambridge City Council Candidates' Night on Environmental and Energy (E/E) Issues on Wednesday October 30, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, at the Cambridge Citywide Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Avenue, Central Square.
GC has
asked if Cambridge-Somerville for Change would like to
cosponsor this event.
As a cosponsor, we would have the opportunity to draft
questions, as well
as having our organization listed as a cosponsor on all our
materials (press
releases, posters, etc.), and the opportunity to participate
at the event
itself. In return we would publicize the event to our
members, and
contribute time (set-up and clean-up) and funds are also
appreciated.
In addition, as you probably know, there is currently a
petition before the
Cambridge City Council proposing that new buildings over a
certain size
constructed in Cambridge
- buildings that
require a special
permit because they're 25,000 square feet - be required to
achieve Net
Zero Emissions, through a combination of energy efficiency, on
site generation,
and purchases of "green power". Here's the petition's web
site: http://www.netzerocambridge.org/petition
I
encourage you to sign it if you can.
The
petitioners - The Cambridge Committee for Net Zero Energy
Buildings has
asked if the Climate and Energy Team would endorse the
petition.
I'm about to be away for a few weeks and am too buried in work
right now to organize
a meeting to discuss the Candidates Night and the Net Zero
Petition. Would someone else like to? Or perhaps we could
vote
on-line?
