I have created a Doodle poll to find a good time to have a conference call tomorrow to discuss how we'll coordinate on which topics to address, speaking roles, etc., during our meeting with Kate Chang on Monday evening. Access the poll at http://www.doodle.com/4km4i5diae4ewaeq
I look forward to speaking with tomorrow and seeing everyone on Monday.

CSfC Climate and Energy Team, Cambridge
Climate Emergency Action Group, and Occupy Boston's Climate
Change, Sustainability, and Environmental Justice members,
We'll meet with Kate Chang of Congressman Capuano's office to
explain Carbon Fee-and-Dividend, and to ask for Capuano's
support for Congressman Pete Stark's "Save our Climate" bill, HR
3242.
We'll meet on Monday Feb 6th at 6:00pm, at Rosalie and Paul
Anders' house at 154 Auburn Street in Cambridge. Auburn street
is just south of Central Square; the Anders are on the ground
floor left hand side.
Those of you who weren't at the preparation meeting on Jan 24th
are welcome to attend, but please allow time to familiarize
yourself with Stark's bill and "fee-and-dividend" in general.
We'll follow this email with an announcement of how we'll
coordinate on topics to address, speaking roles, etc. during the
meeting.
Please confirm by email - to eth...@ix.netcom.com
and to ga...@rucinskis.com - if
you will definitely be attending.
Thanks,
Erik Thorkildsen
Background
information:
As you probably know, Congressman Pete Stark (D-Calif) has
introduced a Carbon Fee and Dividend bill in the House: The
Save Our Climate Act, H.R. 3242.
From Citizens Climate Lobby's website:
"The Save Our Climate Act, H.R. 3242, would tax coal, oil and
gas based on the amount of carbon dioxide these fuels would
emit when burned. Starting at $10 per ton of CO2, the tax
would increase by $10 each year until CO2 emissions fall to 20
percent of 1990 levels. Most of the revenue from the Save Our
Climate Act – an estimated $2.6 trillion in the first 10 years
– would be returned to U.S. citizens as an annual rebate to
offset higher energy costs."
“This is a revenue-neutral approach that Republicans should be
able to embrace, as it will not increase the size of
government,”
“What it WILL do is move massive amounts of investment money
toward clean energy, expanding a sector of the economy that
shows the most promise for producing the jobs Americans need.”
