Guideline for BE Semester VIII Students

Student-friendly Online Final Year Project Platform: http://projects.gtu.ac.in/

REQUIRED: Every team of students (or a student if it is an individual project) must register the project on or before 15th February 2015

Dear Mr. SHAH HARSHAL,

HOD - COMPUTER ENGINEERING at PARUL INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY, WAGHODIA

Please circulate below information with your faculty and semester VIII BE students.

GTU Innovation Council (GIC) is working on the development of a Project Mentoring and Working System Development. The objective of this system is to develop a system for helping the students to get appropriate help and mentoring and to help them work more systematically on their project. This will be used for all projects being carried out by the students in all colleges/ institutes, affiliated with GTU.

This site will help the students to remain in active contact with their team members, their Faculty Guide and industry-mentors, if any. On the site, the students will be able to update their progress in the project and guide & the external mentor, if any, can comment on the status, progress and problems.

The online platform: http://projects.gtu.ac.in/ is generated to cater to the different needs at every level of progress of the project. To begin with it, the following tasks will have to be carried out by the students, of BE semester VIII, using the above platform.

1. Students Registration Activity and approval by HOD/Principal. (07th February to 15th February 2015)

2. Students team formation for project approval by Internal Guide/HOD/Principal. (16th February to 20th February 2015)

Separate log in details will be provided to project Internal Guides, HOD and Principal for using the above platform. It will be sent to their respective email IDs. It will be used by them for monitoring of their students’ progress and various activities.

Background and Objectives of the Platform: The real time status of each Project can be observed by all the team-members of a student project, internal guides and other mentors and academic administrators like HOD, Principal as well as by the academic section of the university, dealing with bringing in external mentors for student projects.

TO ALL THE STUDENTS: PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES ON OR BEFORE 15TH

February 2015: At the current stage, all BE semester VIII students have to register themselves at the above platform with their details, after obtaining the approval by their respective HOD/Principal. They have to complete team registration activity which will be again approved by their Internal Guide/HOD/Principal (till 20th February 2015). Once the team is approved for any project, then they can update their regular progress and other activities at above platform.

Note: Applicable to some Branches only: For students and teams who are working on a project, which is different in semester VIII from the project during semester VII, can update their details at the current stage. Any such changes in project and team can be made using this registration phase.

The Director General of CSIR has 36 laboratories all over the country and these are manned by eminent engineers and scientists. NASSCOM has active contacts with the entire software industry. GTU had discussed with the Director General and with the officers the issue of providing occasional mentoring to the Final Year students electronically and sometimes personally- by the eminent professionals. This platform will make it possible for our students to establish active and working contacts with such professionals from the industries from all over the country. These can prove useful to our students for their work on the projects. Moreover if the students can develop these contacts, such mentors can open many doors in the professional fields for the students.
