CSC Community Service

Welcome to Maryland and the Service Email List for the Catholic
Student Center. I'm so excited to get to know everyone this year and
to really help better our community. I want to keep this email short
so I'm going to make this fast.
Here's what we've got scheduled and coming up:
1. Little Friends for Peace on all Wednesdays, meet at the Stamp Bus
Stop at 3:30. If you know you want to go, email Pamela Barry
(pba...@umd.edu) or Lauren Houser (lho...@umd.edu). Little Friends
for Peace works with inner city kids, mentoring them and teaching
them conflict resolution. You will get back probably between 7 and
7:30.
2. Advertising for CSC events- our own CSC needs help this Saturday
putting up posters/chalking sidewalks for the BBQ this Wednesday.
Meet at the CSC at 11am.
3. I need help doing some development/fundraising stuff. Each of
the committees at the CSC has responsibility to help with this so if
you like public relations, working with people, and solicitation,
email me at emily_...@mac.com and I can give you more information.
Ideas in the works (please let me know if you're interested or if
there is something you want to do but it isn't here...):
1. Winter and/or Spring Service Trip- one of these will probably be
to Habitat for Humanity in South Carolina and the other will probably
be a trip through the FOCUS missionaries on campus
2. Service Event Saturday morning the 18th of September. Exactly
what we are doing is still to be determined but keep an eye on the
emails if you're interested.
3. Working to bring free trade coffee to the whole UMD campus. One
of your fellow CSCers has grand plans for this, which she plans to
keep me informed on. So if you're into integrity in the workplace/
marketplace and people over profits, this is for you!
4. Trail Maintenance in the area is probably gonna happen again too.
Maybe once or twice this semester.
