Software app: Motion

*Save after every move since the app crashes a lot....
>Select Project Preset dialog box>pull down menu - first choice at this point in time.... allyson will look into other added options...

GUI: 3 tabs
1. file browser - get external hd, desktop, etc.
2. library - behaviors, replicators, effects, etc.
3. inspector - control for each component of an object

library>content - you can drag to main window or click on Apply button
under library tab

Keyboard shortcuts:
F6 - turns timeline ON/OFF or use menu Window>control 7
- can customize/tweak object
D - for Dashboard - more controls to manipulate object

Inspector

Timeline: by default group is created
e.g,
Group>Blossom_01 from library

Creating Own Shape/Text
Library>Shapes or Toolbar - Square, Circle, Line, etc.

e.g., 5-sided star
Change color in color wheel w/inspector or in pulldown menu in
dashboard, remember to select object

Behaviors - quick-n-dirty "pseudo key frames"

Add Behaviors>Basic Motion>
- Fade I/O - adjust timeline of fade i/o in dashboard; increase frame
count to slow fade
- Grow/Shrink
- Motion Path - click on path to add bezier point to change path of
object
- Spin - outer circle gives number of spins; inner circle rotates
object

Paint Brush Tool
Write-On - enabled in dashboard, animates writing; to increase speed
shorten write-on in timeline or use dashboard for speed control
Paint Stroke>Shape Style - changes the type of brush for paint tool.

Hi Rise,
Thanks for the notes.  Sorry I didn't respond sooner.  I had very limited internet access when I was in Hong Kong since my parents don't have a computer.  I will see you tomorrow in class.

Hay we missed you.  Are you okay?  Allyson gave out some handout on batch capturing.  If you are going to shoot your own footage, take a look at the handout.


We spent time listening to people's sound projects.  At the end she covered some Motion.  I can't remember much to report to you.  I will show you what I know the next time.

She wants to hear from us about our plan for the final project next Saturday.

am ok. just have a lot on my plate..... will be in class this coming saturday. i finished my sound project last week, but still need to give it to allyson. i will look at the course website to see what we need to do for our final project... thnx so much. - rise ;-)
