1. Solar power company SunEdison will set up several solar power projects of 500 megawatt (MW) capacity each, totaling 5,000MW, in Rajasthan and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government for this on Tuesday.
2. SunEdison intends to create solar facilities to generate and supply solar energy to various organizations inside and outside Rajasthan. Those who will receive renewable energy from the solar projects include nodal entities of the Central Government of India -- Solar Energy Corporation of India, NTPC VidyutVyaparan Nigam Limited and Power Trading Corporation, a statement from the company has said. Either SunEdison or its affiliates will own the projects. SunEdison has signed power purchase agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) for development of a 5MW solar PV project. In addition, we have signed up with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for development of a 25 MW Solar PV project in the state of Gujarat. We are also executing a 1 MW solar PV project in Rajasthan, under the IREDA guidelines.
· ACQUISITIONS
The world's largest renewable energy development company, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Continuum Wind Energy Limited, Singapore with assets in India. Continuum owns and operates 242 megawatts (MW) AC of wind power plants in Maharashtra and Gujarat states, as well as 170 MW of wind power under construction in Madhya Pradesh state, and has more than 1,000 MW of wind power plants in development across six states in India.
Also they have acquired a company called First Wind.
