To all aspiring Senior Sailors
We have made some significant changes to the written test for Dinghy and Keelboat.
Starting now there is a separate test for Dinghy and for Keelboat. But don’t worry if you’ve worked hard to pass the current Senior Written, as anyone who has passed that in the past 3 years is grandfathered for both the new Dinghy and Keelboat tests, as is anyone with a current Senior or Cruise rating. It should be shown as a Pass on your White Card.
Both of these tests are online now. They are essay tests, which means you enter text answers, and they are graded manually by our Sailing Examiner Chair, Jack Chen.
Instead of the same test for everyone that we had in the past, these tests will have a mix of required questions and others drawn randomly from a pool of questions.
You can access these tests here:
You can take these tests if you have a Junior Dinghy rating and have an approved Senior Project.
NOTE. You can only take these tests once, so be sure you are prepared for it. The material covered is here.
These are closed book tests, so you are on your honor to respect this. Your test will be graded manually, and you will be notified of the result. If you do not pass, Jack will work with you on assignments to get your knowledge to the point that you can be passed on the test.
This is a new system. We think it is better in several ways. Send feedback to rear_co...@cal-sailing.org
Huge thank you to John B, Ryan A, Jack C, Memo and Robert S for getting this put together, up and running!
