Youth Ride on August 4th & 5th with Shorebird Nature Center

Hi everyone, 

We're having a couple of youth rides next week and we're still looking for skippers/crew to help out, especially on the Wednesday 5th, but if you can help out on Tuesday 4th that would be great!

The Shorebird Nature Center will be bringing 24 students over, and since this is a large group, we're splitting the youth rides into 2 days - August 4th and 5th. 

We're looking for folks who can help out on either day. We're looking for:

Senior keelboat skippers

Juniors (or seniors) to volunteer as crew on the keelboats, to help with rigging the keelboats before heading out, to go sailing with the kids and show them the bay, provide basic sailing and safety instruction, and help de-rig the keelboats after the ride. 

All groups come with adult chaperones, so you can focus on sailing and safety. 

We may also need help greeting the youth and getting them fitted with PFDs and walking the group over to the docks.

On either day there will be 12 kids, ranging from 9-12 years old, and it'll be a 90 minute to 2 hour ride out in the bay, starting from about 10:00-10:30 am. 

For many of these kids this is their very first time on a sailboat. So come help us introduce some kids to sailing, get volunteer hours, get time on the water and help in securing the club's free berths, receiving grants and donations, and maintaining our lease. New juniors, this is a great way to get time one the keelboats as well!
