Cruise Description
Hello, I hope you can join me and Saul on this qualifying dinghy cruise to the Richmond Yacht Club (RYC). Initially planned to the public docks in Richmond, we've upgraded to RYC, thanks to Katie Cornetta!
RYC is a full-fledged Yacht Club, but is very dinghy-oriented and in my experience, a very welcoming place to even the soggiest of sailors in dripping wetsuits. There are plenty of spots to eat lunch (their deck has a pretty good view of the bay), there's a boatyard to nerd out in, and restroom facilities are clean and sailing-friendly (currently trying to determine if the hot showers are on offer). For anyone who has never been to RYC, I anticipate this being a fun and novel introduction.
We will meet at 11AM, one hour prior to departure at noon. We will sail to RYC (2 hours-ish), spend 30-60 minutes on a quick snack/late lunch/tour of the facilities, then head back to CSC (should take less than 2 hours with kites and usual wind direction). I am shooting for a 5PM return, but obviously without a motor, times are not guaranteed. Currents are pretty benign along the route as we are mostly in shallow water, although we will need to be mindful of a 0.5 knt flood around the tip of the Richmond Jetty and once we get into Point Potrero Reach (the deep water channel).
Wetsuits and foulies required. There will be a mandatory boat repair/inspection session prior to the cruise.
I may add boats to this cruise as demand and Senior availability dictate.
Juniors: sign up for the cruise, and either email or slack me with your experience and comfort level:
A) sailing and COB recovery in high wind (>20kts)
B) using the trapeze
C) using the gennaker
D) volunteering at CSC
Feel free to Slack or email me with any questions/concerns.

Reposting this cruise now that we've upgraded our destination to the Richmond Yacht Club! They seem very excited about a bunch of dinghies showing up to their docks and I hope it's an exciting opportunity to experience a particularly nice bit of the sailing world outside CSC!
