Freshmen Connection & Commuter Groups
Attention Freshmen Connection and Commuter students!! Note from Mark and Carlos, who are running our Freshmen Connection outreach this fall:
My name is Mark Gyorfy and I will be running the Catholic Student Center's Freshman Connection program with Carlos Moreno this fall. What Carlos and I are hoping to do with you guys this semester is meet once or twice a week, to help everyone get to know each other, our school, and the CSC better. Our first time to meet will be Tuesday, September 27th at 12 noon at Memorial Chapel for noon mass. If you are unable to attend mass, you can meet us in the front of the chapel when mass gets out (which is around 12:20-12:30). From there we can all grab lunch together at the South Campus diner, Chipotle, or wherever everyone wants to go. We'll then head to the CSC to get to know each other and hang out before classes start. In addition to meeting on Tuesdays, Carlos will be having a Bible study every Friday at 3:30 on the mall, which you are all invited to go to (more information will be given soon). If you have any questions feel free to either send me an email, talk to me after 7 p.m. mass on Sunday, or talk to Carlos after noon mass on Sunday. I look forward to meeting everyone next Tuesday! -Mark

Basilica to Host A Conversation with Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez on Upcoming Film
The Way
Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 6:15 p.m.
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is pleased to present “A Conversation with Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez,” next Saturday evening, October 1, in Memorial Hall at 6:15 p.m.
The father and son team will speak and answer questions about their new film, “The Way,” a story about a father and son and the ancient pilgrimage route, the Way of St. James. The award winning actor, Martin Sheen, plays Tom, an American doctor who comes to France to collect the remains of his adult son, played by Emilio Estevez, killed in a storm while walking The Way of Saint James. Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage and to finish the journey for his son. What Tom does not plan on is the profound impact the journey will have on him personally and the people he will meet.
THE WAY, written and directed by Emilio Estevez, was filmed entirely along the actual Camino de Santiago in France and Spain.
This event is free and open to the public.
