No-Shave November Beard-Off

 

Men of the CSC, your scratchy pains are at an end!

 

Join us for the 2nd Annual No-Shave November Beard-Off after Wednesday Night Dinner this week at the CSC.


The Beard-Off is a judging contest to raise money for local pregnancy centers and collect food for St. Mark’s Food Pantry. All men who wish to enter their beard for judging must pay $5 and all others are encouraged to vote with money and/or canned food donations. The person whose beard earns the most donations will win a Chipotle gift card or other fabulous prizes.

Men’s Night In

Men: Join us for battle. We'll be having a Men's Night dedicated to Spiritual Warfare on Thursday Dec. 1st at 8PM at the CSC. We will learn the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel and what it means to be a spiritual warrior and then put our skills to practice by throwing tomahawks.

Women’s Night Out

We will kick off the night at 7 PM at Memorial Chapel with an advent reflection in the Catholic Chapel inside Memorial Chapel then head down to DC by metro to see the National Christmas Tree!

Christmas Tree Decorating and Community Service Project

 

Come join us for hot chocolate, egg nog, cookies and lots of Christmas cheer as we decorate the Christmas tree and Catholic Student Center. 

We will be making Christmas Cards as part of the Red Cross Holiday Cards for Heroes program - Sending a “touch of home” to American men and women who serve our country is the perfect way to express your appreciation and support during the holiday season. CSC Blood Drive

The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a blood drive at the CSC on Friday, December 2nd from 10am-3:30pm. According to the Red Cross, 38,000 donors are needed every day, so please considering donating if you are able.

The Blood Drive is open to anyone, so please tell everyone you know to give blood! You can even invite them to this event. The Red Cross always has free food for donors as well as some other goodies. Come donate blood and save 3 lives!

Spellman House
This Friday, start of your weekend by having a blast with a group of local senior citizens.  They love us coming out and you will have more fun talking with them than you can imagine.  We are there from 7-9 where we play games, chat, and eat with our senior friends.  Please meet at the Catholic Student Center at 6:30 if you need a ride there, or meet at Spellman House (tall building behind the McDonalds on Rt. 1, it’s across from the View) a little after 7.  If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail Joanna at smar...@umd.edu. Vicki Thorn - What They Didn't Teach You in Sex Ed

Vicki Thorn, founder of the Project Rachel ministry for post-abortive healing active in dioceses across the country is coming to speak at the Hoff Theater on December 6th at 7:30 PM.

 

Her presentation “What They Didn’t Tell You in Sex Ed” will discuss the biology of contraception and Theology of the Body. The talk is free – please invite friends.

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception – Holy Day of Obligation

Mark your calendars!

 

December 8th is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and a holy day of obligation for Catholics.

 

There will be 12 PM Mass at Memorial Chapel and a special 5:30 PM Mass at the Catholic Student Center Chapel.

 

Living Nativity

The CSC will be having a Living Nativity scene on McKeldin Mall on Thursday December 8th from 1-4 PM.

 

To sign up to be in the Nativity Scene visit the Volunteer Space sign up here. Bring friends, there will be hot chocolate.

Winter Break Service Trip – Habitat for Humanity

 

The CSC winter break service trip will be to Sea Island Georgia Habitat for Humanity, from January 8 - 14, 2012.

 

Cost is $250 per person, $50 Deposit is due December 1.

 

Only 12 spots are available and registration is first come first served.  A wait list will be used after all spots are filled, in the event of cancellations.
