Hello Church Family!
We are back from Burning Man and it was AWESSSSOME! While we were there, we put on a few lectures from Christian Science lecturer John Tyler. One of his lectures held at the Centre Camp was on Conflict Resolution.  We as a camp had been really praying about conflict resolution in preparation for our week at Burning Man and we were thrilled to learn that on the second day of Burning Man a cease-fire was announced between Hamas and Israel.

After our return from Reno, some of the Burning Man camp team members went north to Redding, CA for the world premiere of a film called "Holy Ghost." You can check it out here: http://holyghost.wpfilm.com. It is a Christian documentary about Christian healing all over the world. While in Redding, we met Janessa Gans Wilder and her husband at the CS church. They told us that they were preparing to take a group of a few dozen Christian Scientists to Israel this Sunday, September 14th.

We want to continue our prayer watches and work from Burning Man through these kinds of activities - and we'd love for you all to be a part of it!!!

This Friday, September 12th, at 7PM (PST) we are going to have a teleconference prayer watch with readings from The Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

Here is the teleconference information:

Call-in Number: (712) 432-1212.

After calling in, please input the Meeting ID number which is:

979-828-671

In addition to the prayer watch call, we are going to have the first Sunday Service of a Christian Science Society birthed out of some of the recent outreaches in Reno, NV, Austin, TX, Los Angeles and the Bay Area. The purpose of this Christian Science Society will not be to try to recreate a branch church experience, but rather to support existing branch churches and other Christian organizations through outreach, healing, and innovation. We are going to try some new expressions of the Bible Lesson on Sunday at 3PM (PST) so we'd love to have you join us with that, too.

The website for the Christian Science Society can be found at www.city4squared.holyghostglobal.com. Check it out - it's pretty fun!!!

We look forward to joining you all in prayer over the next week about peace in Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, and the Middle East. We will be announcing a prayer fast this Friday at sundown that will encourage participants to spend an hour in consecrated prayer each day until September 21st which is the International Day of Peace. Prayer fasting is not necessarily abstaining from food - which may or may not be what each individual is called to at this time - but it IS about focusing on the goodness and holiness of God for one hour continuously.

We'll be announcing more details about the prayer fast on our Friday night call and in a follow-up email.

Thank you for loving and living the cause of Christian Science!

Gratefully Yours,
 Michael Morgan, CS

PS - And just for fun, here's a little video from our time at Burning Man! :)

Hello Prayer Watch Family!
I wanted to report back to the group that I've heard from the Euphrates' Institute team and they are safe and busy in Israel. They have started doing daily picture blog updates on their instagram through their website: www.euphratesinstitute.org. Here are a few!

Here are our readings from last Friday's call - we had 16 people join us!

We've started a Facebook group to keep up the prayer watching here:

On the call, we received inspiration to read a page of Mary Baker Eddy's "People's Idea of God" each day.

If you've been doing this, you should now be on page 6. Here is an idea that really stood out to me:

"It is the false conceptions of Spirit, based on the evidences gained from the material senses, that make a Christian only in theory, shockingly material in practice, and form its Deity out of the worst human qualities, else of wood or stone. Such a theory has overturned empires in demoniacal contests over religion. Proportionately as the people's belief in God, in every age, has been dematerialized and unfinited has their Deity become good; no longer a personal tyrant or a molten image, but the divine Life, Truth, and Love, - Life without beginning or ending. Truth without a lapse or error, and Love universal, infinite, eternal" (People's Idea of God, 2: 14-25).

Let's keep up our prayer watch for the church family in Israel!

Lastly, here is a link from my adventures in Redding and Los Angeles at the Holy Ghost Movie Premiere. Both of these activities helped inspire this on-going prayer group and the people who were a part of them are beautiful!!! Enjoy the music and video.

Blessings!
 Michael
