Hello Church Family!
Another fantastic week to praise God! I wanted to share with you all some wonderful fruit from our prayer work together!

After a week of praying for Christian Science nurses, medical nurses, doctors, and others in the medical field, we were inspired to do our Sunday "Practitioner without Borders" outreach at the Veteran's Administration Hospital.

We've put together a video that combines our experience last week at the V.A. with some of our photos and footage from this year's Burning Man Art Festival. The scripture and inspiration in the video is from last week's Christian Science Bible Lesson on "Matter." Enjoy!

There we prayed with staff and patients and shared the Christian Science Bible Lesson. It was wonderful! There was such a receptivity - we could really, really feel the power of prayer there!

We have also been invited to hold our Sunday services regularly in a location in the South side of Los Angeles. Please pray with us about this awesome opportunity!

Two days ago was the International Day of Peace! It was also the last day of our reading "People's Idea of God" in Prose Works. The closing passage of that sermon seemed very fitting for all that we are doing:

"O Christian Scientist, thou of the church of the new-born; awake to a higher and holier love for God and man; put on the whole armor of Truth; rejoice in hope; be patient in tribulation, - that ye may go to the bed of anguish, and look upon this dream of life in matter, girt with a higher sense of omnipotence; and behold once again the power of divine Life and Love to heal and reinstate man in God's own image and likeness, having 'one Lord, one faith, one baptism'" (People's Idea of God, pg. 14: 11-19).

Here's a great article on the International Day of Peace from the Christian Science Monitor: http://www.csmonitor.com/The-Culture/Articles-on-Christian-Science/2014/0919/Honoring-International-Day-of-Peace

We will be holding another prayer watch this Friday at 7PM(PST) on the same conference call line we have been using in the past.

Call-in (712) 432-1212.

 The meeting id is: 979-828-671.

The prayer focus this week will be about houselessness and poverty. To prepare for this call, please read the book of James (you can read a chapter or so each day until Friday!) as well as a page of "Unity of Good" each day.

Here are some questions that we will discuss as a group:

1. Have you ever been houseless, without food, destitute, or impoverished? If so, what was that experience like? If not, have you known people who have been? How has your relationships with those individuals changed your perspective on life?
2. What is the most important "material" thing in your life right now? Now imagine that it was taken away from you. What would you do? How would you respond?
3. What examples of ending conflict and nursing do you find in the Book of James? How do these activities - or a lack of these activities - connect to poverty?

And one assignment! Before Friday, interact with someone who is houseless or destitute. Ask if you can pray with them and share a quote from this week's Christian Science Bible Lesson on "Reality" with them. As you do, really see the reality behind their experience. Hold in thought the perfect man. How did they respond? How did it make you feel? Prepare to share this with the group on Friday's call.

Many, many blessings!!!
