Urgent!  Tell Congress Not to Fast Track the TPP
Call your Congressperson and Senators this Monday or Tuesday -
National Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121
This week the Obama Administration will introduce Fast Track Authority for the Trans Pacific Partnership in Congress. The administration will try to push this through as quickly as possible.  WE MUST STOP FAST TRACK!
Fast Track Authority takes away the constitutional duty of Congress to negotiate trade agreements and hands it to the president.  The president can then negotiate, and sign the trade agreement and present it to Congress for an up or down vote, no amendments allowed.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) threatens jobs, workers rights, the environment, public health, food safety, internet freedom, financial regulation and more. It allows transnational corporations to sue sovereign governments through international "Trade Tribunals" if that country's laws or regulations might potentially limit their profits.
The TPP will be the model for all future global trade agreements.  Rather than limit their right to review, amend and debate the TPP, our elected officials should be scrutinizing every one of its provisions.
