Hi All,
I was reviewing Ch. 1 before reading Ch. 2, and I have a question:
Harold says that (p.53-54) "About the only data for which it's [xml is]
not really suited are bitmapped things such as photographs and recorded
sound." I checked the definition of bitmapped. But bitmapped is distinct
from vector graphics like SVG. I would assume vector graphics are also
not appropriate for XML. Does anybody know?
Thanks,
Holly

From the context, it sounds like he's using the term bitmapped to mean binary formats in general. XML isn't well-suited for any kind of images, audio, video, etc.

This is generally true, but image formats can *include* XML data.
JPEG 2000 has its "JPX metadata", embedded in its images.
See www.jpeg.org if interested.
