Abstract:
e-Government is the use of Information and Communication Technologies to promote more efficient and effective government, and make it more accessible and accountable to the citizens.e-Government presents a new and innovative approach to addressing traditional problems of government services utilizing the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
The e-readiness index of Nepal is found to be low as compared to other countries. There are various challenges for the implementation of e-government in Nepal. These challenges are like low literacy, low per capita income and limited financial resource.
In this talk a conceptual framework is suggested for the effective implementation of e-government in Nepal and also practical challenges facing the implementation of Government Integrated Data Center (GIDC) which is the foundation of e-Government implementation in Nepal. The conceptual framework can be further validated in the real life situation.
