Many of you may have seen his recent talk on "Inventing on Principle"
that's been circling around and really inspring and worthy seeing.
come join us this Fri!

-----------------

Taking off the blindfold

Abstract: The next revolution in education is simply allowing
learners to see what they're doing. When learning and working in many
technical fields, one of the biggest challenges is maintaining the
"picture in your head" -- translating between an abstract symbolic
representation on paper and a physical intuitive understanding in the
mind. We will look at examples of interactive environments that break
down this barrier, and give learners a more immediate connection to
the subject.

Bio: Bret Victor invents tools that enable people to understand and
create. He has designed experimental UI concepts at Apple,
interactive data graphics for Al Gore, and musical instruments at
Alesis. He is the author of "Magic Ink: Information Software and the
Graphical Interface", and recently presented "Inventing on Principle".
