Email to CPBB re Jim and new MD process

Hello band member.

This week’s rehearsal is going to be MD’d by Jim Lynch, a long time friend of the band. There are a few reasons that Jim is stepping in.

  1. This Thursday is Danny’s birthday. He is taking a well earned rest from London and the band and spending the second half of the week at home in Norfolk with his family. Happy birthday Danny.
  2. We are starting to think about life post Danny as MD. This has always been on the cards. While Danny has been rightly exceptionally pleased and proud of the band’s achievements under his leadership, Danny, as MD, was always going to step down at some point. Please note that Danny is only taking one week off and will be back at the helm next week. We have been exceptionally lucky to have had Danny at the helm since Mike stood down as full time MD. Over the next few months we will be looking at alternative options for MD moving forward.
  3. I have been talking with Jim about the MD role here at Crystal Palace main brass band. Jim has been very keen to explore this as an option, as have we been also. Tomorrow’s rehearsal (20th October) is an opportunity for him to see what be thinks of us, and frankly vice versa. I have to say I believe we would be exceptionally fortunate to land Jim as our MD. Please make every effort to attend tomorrow evening’s main band rehearsal. Let’s show Jim what we can do.

Any questions, please ask.

Best regards, Andrew
