First, apologies to everyone receiving this who isn't doing Whit Friday. I just wanted to make sure I reached everyone who is.
Second, Whit Friday is just under two weeks away. Woohoo!
In the run up to this I just wanted to let you know about a few things (apologies in advance for the lengthy email!).
Friday Morning
We will hold a rehearsal on Friday, 1pm at the hotel to run through the marching and the two pieces. Please can everyone plan to arrive at the hotel by 12.45 so that we can start this rehearsal on time.
Address - The Old Golf House Hotel, New Hey Rd, Huddersfield HD3 3YP
Friday Afternoon
The coach will leave the hotel at 2.30pm. We are on quite a strict timeline for the day so if you are not at the hotel by this time then we may not be able to wait for you. This
hopefully shouldn't be a problem for anyone due to attendance at the earlier rehearsal!
Route on the day
The band route is currently being decided by Danny and David. On the day, knowledge from Twitter / coach driver / local knowledge will be used
by Danny and David to potentially amend the plan (there may be too big a wait in popular villages). This could mean that we don't get to all the villages that we may have hoped to have played in. Apologies in advance if this happens and please don't get cross
with David or Danny if the route has to be changed.
Friday Night
We are planning on playing until about 10.30pm arriving back at the hotel for around midnight. It will be dark towards the end of the night so please make sure you have a head torch or other light source so that you can see your music on the march and on the
stand.
Dress Code
The dress code for the day is White shirt, black trousers, black socks and shoes. We will also wear our black band jackets. Please let me know if anyone has a problem with this.
Other things to bear in mind
The forecast is currently looking good with temperatures of 20C predicted. So please come prepared with sun cream and enough water for the day. As we are on quite a tight schedule once we leave the hotel at 2.30 there may not be chance to stop for food during
the evening so please bring enough food to keep you going through the evening.
Accommodation on the Thursday / Friday night
I have attached a list of people who have requested and paid for accommodation at the hotel. If you are not on this and think you should be then please let me know.
There is a car park on site if you are driving.
The nearest large train stations are Huddersfield and Halifax
Safeguarding
For the parents bringing children a separate email will be going out just to confirm safeguarding arrangements.
For all others, as there are young people (anyone aged under 18) attending the Whit Marches, there are a few safeguarding points we all need to be aware of.
- If you are concerned about any child whilst on the Whit Marches please speak to one of our safeguarding officers - Kim Golson (Horn - Main band), Liz Horsfield (Cornet
- Progress Band) Rebecca Asker (mum of Mim - Horn progress band)
- Please be mindful of the language used / jokes made / behaviour when on the bus and when around young people. We need to ensure our behaviour is appropriate for the young people joining us on the marches.
- Please ensure you don't find yourself in a position where you are alone with a young person. If you need help with a young person please seek help from one of the safeguarding officers.
- Please don't swap contact or social media details with any of our young people without their parents being aware.
- Please don't share photo's / video's on social media of any of our young people without their and their parents permission.
Emergency Contact Details
We will need to collect emergency contact details from everyone before the day. This is just to ensure that if anything happens we are able to get in touch with you or a significant other. Please click on the link below to complete the form and if you could
complete it as soon as possible that would be fantastic.
I hope this is all okay. Please let me know by emailing me directly if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you!
