Good morning, below is a message from our Area 14 Director, Lynette Umez-Eronini (CCET, 5-Star, Crystal Clear Communicators, Anchor, and MBC) and Tom Holloway, Area 13 Director (TSA, Booz Allan, Bloomberg, and DEA).  The area directors need our help and they are providing much support to us for our local contest.  I do hope our members will step up and show their support.  We also need to demonstrate our support to the contestants from Crystal City Evening Toastmasters, as this is the second level of competition.  Please let me know if you are available.

We are looking forward to the Area Contests for the International Speech Contest and the Speech Evaluation Contest.  Areas 13 and 14 are teaming up for those contests, which will be held on Saturday, March 23 at the Arlington Central Library, 1015 N Quincy Street, Arlington, VA 22201.  Registration and set-up begin at 11:30, and we aim to begin the contests at Noon.  

We need your help to make the contests successful.  The following roles are available:

Refreshments 

Registration 

Awards

Contest Master

Test Speaker for the Speech Evaluation Contest

Chief Judge

Judges

Tie-breaker Judge

Ballot counters

Timers

Sergeants-at-Arms

Publicity

As you know, it takes a great team to produce a great contest, and training materials are available for the various roles.  We would like for each person to fill a role which they will enjoy and grow in.    Please poll your members and send us the names of volunteers from your club, along with their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices of roles, by COB Friday, February 15.  Please send your replies to both me and Lynette Umez-Eronini (the Area 14 Director).  In case of another government furlough on February 16, please have volunteers provide a non-government email or phone number.

Hey Carlos!!

 

I am running my Youth Leadership workshop every Saturday in March and April, 10 am – 11 am, but I should be able to get back to Arlington to help support the contest.

I’d prefer something that doesn’t require me to arrive early, just to be safe.

Perhaps the test speaker or timer? Something along those lines?
